No one said that was a duplicate of an existing zone. People said that it looked like Riverne. Like I said earlier though, I don't see that zone being a true zone. I wouldn't be surprised if it's similar to Walk of Echoes.

I get it if the complaint 1 brand new zone is not enough, but I do not get the complaint that this is a reskin of another zone, when the only thing it has similar to Riverne (which people are comparing it to) is that its flying.

Looks like someone turned a lamp on in walk of echoes. I hardly call that a new zone. New box expansion with a new continent to explore that is unique and Fresh and not repainted, thanks

I'd like some new landscapes but I don't think this new map is particularly bad. Has a very high level final fantasy feeling from the look of it. All that crystal.

Seriously Its a new Zone, yes. But until its released its just a recolored Cape Riverne.

I hope i'm wrong and its new but i wont get my hopes up until its there.

And btw SE recolors are not 'New Zones' however you may call them, they are old.

Riverne: a floating pile of rocks with some green grass.
New area: a floating pile of rocks with some ice or crystals.

I think people mean something like Al Zahbi or Bhaflau Thickets when they say they want new areas, not the Abyssea-Konschat kind of "new" areas.

what we want is 100% completely original new zones that we have never seen before with all new monsters and layouts and for them to be sprawling in size with lots of content to make use of

not just another rehash or a zone we have seen before that is recolor'd or layed out in a different way to try to trick us

I don't think anyone was complaining about zones being similar. People are concerned with whether or not the zone will be Riverne with a different skin. Your analogies are of zones that look similar but are clearly different zones. If I took Riverne and made the whole zone a different color, that wouldn't count as a new zone.

That's the concept art, not a screenshot.

In the screenshot for Heroes of Abyssea, some people were arguing over if one of the screenshots was from Altepa desert or bibiki bay. Those 2 zones are completely different from eachother. Calling this zone Riverne or an avatar fight area, or anything else, over one little screenshot where the only thing you can see is a floating crystal, makes 0 sense.



I totally get that this zone may suck, or might just be another WoE that we can't actually explore, but theres no way to get to that conclusion based on what they have released of the zone so far.

The screen shots that have been released look more like riverne zone reskins than the concept sketch but then again that's why concept sketches are merely for reference.

What looks like Riverne aside from floating rocks? I know I sound like a broken record at this point, but if floating rocks = same zone, then we might as well call the glacier and xarcabard the same zone because they both have snow.

Floating rocks is exactly right. To be more specific floating islands, such as riverne had. Different heights like riverne had.

The concept sketch implies a large singular floating island/rock with debris rocks around it. Though I did preface concepts are merely for reference purposes so holding the exact look of the place to the concept shouldn't be done.

Could it be a completely unique zone that just happens to go with the floating island theme? Sure.
Could it be a re-skin of riverne zone or models? Sure.

Either of these could be true. No one knows what SE defines as a new zone as the question was ignored in another thread. To them Abyssea re-skin/model removal/tweak type zones count as "new" for all we know at this point.

all riverne is, is floating rocks. That's all this new area is, with some crystals sticking out of the ground and a big one in the middle.
