Lack of Dev-Team feedback, why?

For all the arguing over Red Mage's various different aspects, be it Curing, Nuking, Support casting. We've gone over quite a bit of ground and virtually every opinion on anything has been fairly well discussed, regardless of what side of what issue.

But what the conversation has been lacking, and sorely been needing, is input from the development teams.

It is a difficult thing to take, having to receive info on matters that accutely effect us (like Cure V) second hand from the Scholar forums, while being left in the dark as to how Square Enix intends on pulling out more unique functions for Red Mage to compensate.

Without a guiding light as to what direction to take our conversations, we're always going to find every hot-button to argue over. However, with some input from the development team, we might actually be able to find some sort of direction to focus the conversations on.

So here's a thread dedicated to begging for some individual feedback, and a few questions to throw out for the development team to try to answer, even if it's a general idea for now.

- What sort of direction do they intend on having as far as new Enfeebeling Magic?

- Are there plans to expand upon our Ehnancing magic and if so, are there any general concepts they can share for us to discuss and give feedback from?

- Many jobs are receiving some pretty heavy individual attentions of late, but it seems Red Mage only receiving adjustments and additions during level Cap Raises? Are there any plans in the works for individual adjustments for Red Mage to help balance it better in group contexts?

- Can we have some clarifications on how exactly our enfeebles will be more effective on High Notorious Monsters and various other resistant monsters? Will we still be running into issues in which the monster is still highly resistant to several of our enfeebles, and if so, are there plans of adding enfeebles especially designed to work on these resistant monsters?

- Red Mage is lacking quite a bit in unique spell line. Almost every spell available to us is also available to other jobs (or have AoE versions), with the exception of Merit Spells. Are there any plans in releasing more spells that are unique to Red Mage?



I think more than anything, Red Mages feel as if we lack the sort of open communication that other jobs are afforded on a rather frequent basis, and as such, we spend our time arguing among-st ourselves as to what we would like, with little to guide our conversations to a specific idea or development course that the Developers have planned or envisioned.

With more communication with the Devs, I think the conversations in this particular section of the board could be a lot more productive for both players and developers alike. So please, GIVE US SOME INFORMATION!

I agree. End game content is far to resistant to our A+ skill and leaves me in particular confused and upset that a job I've put a lot of time and effort into has little utility in it's main role on the battlefield. I understand that SE never intended the job to accomplish what it did before the level cap. But since the level cap increase and the influx of new content, RDM has become less and less useful due to spell resistance and lack of uniqueness in it's spells. I for one have always been for the wait and see approach. But after some time here on the forums watching the degrading conversation and suggestion boil over into arguments and constant trolling, I agree with Hyrist that a lack of Dev input on this job has left a lot of the player base turning on one another.

You're not asking for Developer feedback. You're asking for Developer confirmation of your wants and views. If a Developer says something that doesn't coincide with what you want, you and plenty of others just dismiss it and go back to clamoring about the same old shit.

So, you know what, I'd be perfectly happy if you never received the feedback that you really want.

Manifesto was poorly translated, we've already gone over this. And I told you people a long time ago that SE wasn't going to give Cure V to RDM. I was rather surprised that their not giving it to SCH under AW and that instead their giving them the Regen enhancements we asked for, but that's how it goes.

Yes I would love to have developer feedback on what their cooking, even if it's to the tune of "we have no idea and are stalling for time". That so many other jobs have been getting lots of attention since the 80 cap and RDM has pretty much been ignored is a sore spot for me. It's obvious SE either doesn't know what to do with the job or is very afraid of making the job overpowered so is nerfing us via non-updates.

I would have to agree that we could use some feedback from SE. That way we could at least be fighting tooth and nail about something that may actually matter at some point.

There are plenty of things that I'm looking forward to and will probably never see, but that doesn't mean that I wouldn't be willing to discuss things that could be coming, even if they aren't what I wanted. I doubt I will ever stop playing RDM just because I find it fun.

Some better sense of direction would be nice, yes. Unfortunately, I can't help but feel the gravity of tensions and intricacies of some discussions is lost thanks to the language barrier between us and the devs. Those who come to deliberately sabotage conversation and antagonize with their "knowledge" certainly haven't helped, either.

I feel like you might be just trying to build up a convincing i told you so. Some of what has come out of the recent updates has been positive, I don't think being negative at this point is going to help anyone.

The real deal is the Dev Team generally just responds to JP post and the mods just translate it on forums here so for the most part they never really answer our questions.

Personally i try to follow everything they tell me, not seeing cure V doesnt hurt me, and manifesto was very vague and left far too many holes. Saying war is going to be enhanced in dealing damage for example is kind of a "Dur" moment for example. I saw the cure statement as a nice thing, because while i would have used cure V if given to me, i also am glad to see they are aware of the problem, and while there are no details, have said what they plan to do to FIX the problem. Now when it comes to the other content, yeah id like to hear something, but something to the tune of being specific. Doesnt need to be mapped out, or calculated, but on "weaponskill adjustments" that could mean just fixing select ws like relics to make them perform compared against empyreans, or that could mean assigning a "Go to" ws for each job that can offer reliable damage output. Same with "Martial Adjustments" honestly, and if they hadnt mentioned the part about rdms wanting to swing swords with the statement, that could have easily been a total combat stat removal. After all, we all know by now "adjustment" doesnt always equal improvement, and more often than not it results in the target made worse rather than better... I just want something more...detailed and less cryptic, but if i need to take mysterious scribblings in crayon on a napkin from the devs, i suppose it will do...But you cant blame a guy for wanting a bit more clarity!
