Holy crap, do people really believe this "All servers are equal and the same" bullcrap? You really need to participate in cross-server forums more often if this is the case.

It is very true that some servers have a larger, more active JP population than others. It is also true that some servers have large, active EU populations where others just plain don't. The NA population on most servers is generally decently sized regardless, but what changes is the size of this base in relation to the size of other regional playerbases, as well as the relative activity of the NA playerbase.

Some servers are loud and obnoxious as all hell, some are filled with well-known retards, others are relatively quiet and try to avoid attention from those types of players. In some cases, old HNM hierarchies determined the general "feel" of the Endgame community of the server. Most good players that other good players would be interested in playing with are generally a product of the past 5 years of their server's Endgame history, for better or for worse.

If you're looking for a server to just chill in, Cerberus is generally fairly laid back. We got rid of Vigor and a few others like him ages ago, and to be honest I can't even think of anyone who I'd be able to call the "Resident Retard". If you're looking for linkshells to do things with on a regular/daily basis, though, part of the reason that our server's quiet is because the vast majority of good linkshells are already set on their membership. New shells that were worth a damn weren't really created for a long time on Cerberus, since we were home to Maury (of FFXIAPP fame). The majority of the Endgame scene belongs or belonged to one of 5-6 different linkshells and that's about it, so it's hard to inject oneself into that sort of clique.

If that's the sort of thing you're looking for, I'd suggest making a thread on BG's Cross Server LFP forum. There are a decent number of linkshells there that are actively recruiting, so you're more likely to find something that you're interested in at times that work for you.

They're not 100% equal, no. But the differences are not so vast that it's going to make a significant difference. And even if they did, telilng everyone they should join the "best" server is only going to make the problem worse. It's a predictable phoenomenon.

Finding other people who want to do what you want to do and going over to meet with them is a good idea, as you suggested. But just going somewhere because someone said their server is good or not going there because they said it sucks is silly. One person can not objectively describe the content of their entire server.

Golly Gee, Mr. Robinson. It could be that different servers are better suited for different people.

Try again, buck-o. Servers are different and have their own personalities. "Best" is subjective. The OP is not asking for a "Best" server, but a server that is "Best for them". In this case, there are definitely right and wrong answers.

The thing is, I fully acknowledged this, but also pointed out the fact that you can't reasonably glean from one person what the entire server is like. So thank you for making the uppity post that the OP lhanked you for, but you misunderstood me.

I am not trolling you Elphy, merely sharing my thoughts. I fully understand what you're asking, I'm just trying to tell you this isn't the best approach to take in order to make a decision.

Because I'm totally only speaking from my own first-hand experiences and not my 8-years of first-hand experience combined with the first-hand experience of hundreds of other people who come together to shape the community of each server. Totally.

Yeah. If internet forums didn't exist, I'd hardly be able to talk about anything more than the corner of the server that I know. Fortunately, forums exist, people communicate, and you're able to build a better picture of the whole after communicating experiences with one another in a large enough group over a long enough period of time.

Or maybe Asura isn't so bad after all, because no single player could really categorize it as terrible.

Writing that made me chuckle to myself. Oh, Asura. You so silly.

I'm not sure where you got this but I'm not too sure this is necessarily true. I would make the assumption that all servers have a pretty even mix of JP/EN speakers. You could try and find where well-known english Linkshell are / have moved to.
My suggestion is maybe go to one of the more populated servers to increase your exposure to more people you can communicate with.

    Good choice.

Also, you may want to look up the definition of the word "troll". You're using it wrong, and it does not mean what you think it means. (as was stated already, but the point hasn't gotten across yet apparently).

People on this forum like to use the word troll to mean "Someone who disagrees with me" and/or "someone is being mean to me". It's pretty sad actually

I can only assume that if you didn't manage to find Phoenix to your liking, that NA prime-time Phoenix is different from EU prime-time Phoenix. There certainly seems to be a decent volume of friendly EU people and linkshells around. There was also a year ago when I worked nights (might still be true, but I can't say) a couple of good friendly Australian/graveyard shift shells around. I was even a part of a small, friendly JP shell! (Still am, strictly speaking, but they play less often now, and I play at their prime time less often).

Posting a thread on a cross-server forum advertising your play-style, time and event preferences is definately the best route forwards though.
