It's not just that few people want it, it's that few people actually have synthesis high enough to make use of it.

About the only people who can make use of these high-skill mats are players who skilled their synth back when it was profitable to do so and are basically grandfathered in at this point.

I would wager the percentage of players with a 100 synthesis skill has gone down through old players quitting more than it's gone up with new players improving their skills.
