If you're bidding farewell to a game, then you should just do it. No one else cares if you quit or not. Posting here sends the message that you're coming back, in fact probably later today- Who the heck quits the day before an update?
People who quit and announce it on a forum always come back. The only people who really truly quit don't make announcements about it.
A large number of people that get geared in the best endgame gear instantly think they are better players than everyone else and turn into asshats (not all but it seems to taint a lot of people in that way). Thats the only bad thing about anyone being able to get to the top tier when it used to be a very select few, the top tier asshats of old FFXI used to stick to themsleves and hate on the small endgame community as it existed (hnm camps, opposing shells etc)...now it's spread all around to everyone in all areas of the game.Yeah. Effort did not equal rewards before Abyssea. Now it does. That is what I really like about this game now.
So it's changed from a small group of endgamers hating, mocking and despising each other which was mostly unknown to normal players to a large portion of the entire game being that way.
Unfortunate to see you go. Your posts were helpful for the part I saw them at least, and not having them will be a loss. Not that we know each other much, perhaps a shame, but that's what I thought.
If one day you do return, I will be one of those to bid thee welcome back. And if thou do not (and even you do), then I wish you all the best of luck with your future endeavours, whatever they might be! :]
Good luck!

...or so the legend says.
In a year, maybe less, 95 emps will be a total joke. The only reason people are charging so much now is because they're new and retards will pay ridiculous prices to say "FIRST GAIS!!1!".
They're trade able and can drop 1-12 to each member of an alliance. You can also spam the event virtually endlessly.
Also, the reason there seemed to be less douchebags back in the days of giant HNMLS was because you had to have skill. Not skill in pralying the game so much as skill in personal interaction, which is what I miss most about the old days. You had to have some level of respect and charisma to get things done in a timely manner, whereas today you can go out and be a total piece of shit to anyone and everyone and get everything you want.
Hurray for VW however. Challenging, fun fights that require people to work together. It's what this game has been missing for a while now.
