So, my question then, is why isn't his body etheral, wh y doesn't he have an aura or something? The game is capable of this. It should be made more obvious he's a ghost.

Abyssea was basically battle content, so they really paid very little attention to detail when it came to story. It's why I made my topic about expanding on the story since they could have done so much more in terms of detail. I guess that would have given away a plot point.
Dark Knight ~ 90: Yes I actually use a Scythe.
its the same guy who put salvage drops @ 1% , and made cop ... sage...s..... cant say it or the next update will make the level 99 cap quest require a drop off AV. this drop will have a 6 % drop rate and only from the 6th AV that spawns. and on the 6th day after this update the severs will shutdown.
How is this sadistic? The more appropriate word is 'sad' and XI quests have plenty of that.
Have none of you been to Gusgen Mines? Dead kids everywhere and often without hands or feet floating around the hallways and generally being pretty creepy.
I always wanted to ask SE why the heck parents were taking their children into a dangerous mineshaft to begin with but I digress.

Huh... where's it say he's dead? I did that quest a while back, but don't remember it saying he was dead.
He once sold his soul to Promathia for a rare drop. He later won it back in a drinking contest, before beating up the twilight god for good measure.
He's won dance-off trophies from the Republic of Bastok, the Duchy of Jeuno, and the Yagudo Theomilitary.
He's won entire arguments with a single leer.
He is the most interesting galka in the world.
Spoilers.
It makes it clear that the kid is dead when the mom remembers what really happened. Seeing him ingame, half-invisible is another major indicator.
"We found her trapped under two tons of burning Scorpion Subligars, Wool Gambisons, Raptor Jerkins, and Velvet Slops. She screamed for hours, but no could reach her for fashionable inferno that surrounded her tiny body.
I...sorry...I get a little choked up whenever I remember it. That was the happiest day of my life, after all."
Who cares, honestly? I think S-E figured the audience was mature enough to accept that children die in real life, so chances are, some will have unfortunate ends in a fantasy world, also. They aren't having you run around attacking kids or anything. It's all just story and good ones will have an impact on you. A lot of the Tavnazia stories were sad or grim, with loved ones and whole families dying, and the CoP content was some of the best storyline-wise in all of FFXI. If you want something a little more palatable for you, may I suggest Lego Universe or Toontown?
Am I the only one who thought the OP was upset because the dead taru child's name somewhat resembled the word "Punt", since that's what we do to taru children in Vana'Diel?
Oops.
