One run, you could get kill everything (Monks and Blues rejoice!), Lamps-Code, Kill NM Flan, Free Floor! And the boss is just Khimaira. Next run you get Lamps-order, kill all Soulflayers and don't let gear detect you, followed by kill everything but don't kill gear (leading to confusion amongst party members), kill specified enemy with multiple NMs on the floor (leading to more confusion amongst party members), and if you survive all that, kill Cerb. Joy... but that little bit of occasional frustration gave a real sense of victory when you won.
You will not get the same run every time. There is always going to be some variable that makes it different. Maybe a random buff, or no white magic, who knows?
Stop trying to be cool and argue with me.
This event was one of the things I always looked forward to for what I scheduled for my week in FFXI. I remembered the climb, I remember who I went with and staticed with for gear afterwards.
Something it had going for it was that it was random, but it wasn't as static as Einherjar; you had to move around, but with purpose; find the NM, find your way back to the exit, find the lamps. This event was fun! Not fun for drop rates, not fun for (x) easy mode, fun because it was challenging and fun to do.
