As a FFXI player from Louisiana, I'd like to chime in about this.

When we got knocked down by a couple of hurricanes several years back that got International attention, and I was finally able to log back into FFXI when things started to get back to normal, I was surprised to see that SE had left an automated message and deactivated my account (and payment) for the month that I was unable to play.

Well how I see it is Its not the North American players fault that this happened and I do understand whole heartedly on why they shut it down I really do but, did they need to shut down the North American and EU servers as well. And I do have friends in Tokyo that was in the earthquake so i am not being a complete selfish person, but there are servers in Japan California and German(I think) why shutdown the ones that are not pulling the power from Japan.

Without sounding like the judgmental jerks on here, I will repost a message from another person that will explain why so you understand:

most MMOs may have servers in multiple countries, but the game is located on a central server. If you haven't participated in a server transfer of the magnitude that it would require to shift everything for a game this size, then you really should stop and think for a moment. When you're transferring something onto say, a flash drive, it takes extra power to do the transfer, as well as the power that the server normally takes to run. Now, in the middle of that, turn your computer off suddenly. You data will be corrupted on at least one end, and possibly on both, which makes it unable to be recovered.

And you're an idiot if you think what they did and they way they have compensated players for this disaster is anything less than heartless. FFXI is not "need" it's a want and because of that, the luxury of playing XI is disabled.

It's also not one reactor, its two that are having problems. Also they have 55 reactors that supply power to 30% of that country... all of which have gone into a shutdown mode until the aftershocks and tsunamis quiet down.

Yes. She so spiritually attuned that she feels the suffering in japan, but turns around and judges people that she's obviously not attuned to.

FFXI Servers down Day 1: EMO complaints about no FFXI and made up theories on how SE can fix this to accommodate their needs.

I'm hoping by Day 7 all the emotionally imbalanced players will be running with scissors (hopefully blind-folded up and down stairs) because their stress relievers are off-line.
