Sometimes, i wonder why monsters do 20k damage when your character can barely hit too 2-5k health. Sad taru too see people dieying by over kill hits that doesnt make sence when you know for sure no one in game has 20-40k hp unless they use brew lol
but hey i like too die alot i guess. So every event! moogle can tell me hey you die this many times oh thanks taru... oh wait dont forget your anniversary ring O: ouch that hurts.

Its purely because this game was built on the premise of you being in parties more often than not. Early on monsters had lower health, and it was increased. You can still find mandies in the Jungles who have like less than half of regular HP -- or at least you could years back, I don't know if they ever fixed that.

Then stoneskin, phalanx, pdt/mdt sets, etc.

I think FFXI mirrors the real world. Have you ever tried to fight a bear before? Sure with a spear or sword you might have a shot, but good luck punching it. I also feel pretty sure that the bear has a chance to hit you pretty hard.

Actually....punch the bear hard enough in the nose, it will back off.....you just got to know where to aim.

Ever fought a mountain lion before? Those can give you serious cuts. Coyotes too.
