If you pay attention to the messages, you can tell if it's an item, fish or monster.

You don't need a bot to distinguish between them very easily.

No it's profit come from cooking and from catching Gugrusaurus Liks and rusty items in Abyssea that are sold on the AH for 15-20k each as well as catching bugs and alligators to get the two fishing rings from Zaldon that sell on the AH for 500k and 2 million respectively. NPCing is small potatoes. I can make more money gardening wildgrass than I can by selling fish to an NPC for laughably small amounts of gil.

FYI you can wear two fishing skillup rings and use each one for a double skillup enchantment.

Because they cheat and bot, and think everyone else does too.

And when you try to explain to them why you don't cheat they don't believe you, or if they do they are completely perplexed because the idea of not cheating is as alien to them as the idea of color as a smell.

You got caught in your own assumption by not properly reading my OP then calling me a bot. Unfortunately for you, I remembered that an adjustment had been made to Fishing not long ago. I went and found that post from SE and posted YOUR response to almost the exact same question that was asked back then. You COULD have re-posted that response to my OP, instead you chose to call me a bot. For shame. That's a gotcha.

The only reason you would catch any rusty items is if you were botting it. Ever since the last fishing update, I haven't caught one. single. rusty. item.

Despite that though, on your main character, how many "you didn't catch anythings" do you mean by continuous? If it's more than 20, you need to wait longer before you reel in the fish, there is an anti-bot measure that detects if you're catching them too fast and nerfs your catches for the entire day.

None until the 30 minute fishing mark, then 20 + in a row on both Main and mule. Can you not read and understand my postings? That is what I said. Able to fish normally until 30 minute mark of fishing then 20+ "you didn't catch anything." I would also say that my catches weren't anything out of the ordinary either on any of the 2 characters I was able to fish on.

Again I will advise strongly that you do not assume people are bots and cheats because they are catching "rusty items." Do not accuse or intimate such until or unless you can provide concrete evidence. You haven't been able to do so thus far and I have shot your own theory down using your own post against you on the subject. Check my posts for the fishing levels on all characters and tell me that I do not have a chance at low levels of catching Rusty items.

So ruminate on this now please.

An update! Today, able to fish NORMALLY on the mule I wasn't able to fish on for 2 days in a row, except for a few minutes the first day. The ONLY thing different today is mule is 1 level higher, level 35. I fished until my bait was gone, almost 1 hour and caught the following in Bastok Markets.........19 Moat Carp, 11 Dark Bass, 1 Rusty Bucket, 5 Pairs of Rusty Leggings, and 1 gil. Fishing skill now level 1.1.............no Fatigue at 30 minutes, at most 4 or 5 "You didn't catch anything" messages.

I now have the 10 pair of Rusty Leggings needed for the Quest "Like Shining Leggings", which was part of my purpose, and also to see if it would be worth starting Cooking to make not only my own food but fishing bait as well. Granted, Rusty Leggings are only 100 gil on the AH, but I like the hunt thank you and I will most certainly be going after Rusty Subligar since they are 5k each on the AH.

You're right they both sell for around 500k now. Puffin Ring used to be around 2 million though. Still good money.

What is your drop rate on getting one of those rings though? I doubt its very high. SO while you CAN make a good lump some getting lucky to get a ring to sale, thats not going to be the main, constant moneymaker for you.

I think what the player meant was that normally people would cancel those 'un-wanted' items and not reel them up, completely missing the point that you actually wanted them.

    Or so it seemed to me, at least. ^^;

Anyways, good to see you seem to have gotten past the issue, what ever it was. Though it would be great to know exactly what was going on. I personally don't remember noticing anything like this while going up to 40+ fishing skill (and no, I don't cheat either, though I know we are a rarity!)
I did not really do fishing after the latest tweaks that were done to the system, only went for a few fishy for an Altana quest, but that didn't take long at all so can't say I've been fishing yet.

I sort of do want to now, for some reason...
