How badly is Fishing broken?

All I know is that I followed the guides and catch tons of fish just fine with 25.7 skill, but, I got no skill ups what so ever. >.<

Perhaps this is why OP isn't catching any fish ^^?

Either way, he shouldn't be catching rusty items since it says in the log you've hooked a useless item.(that doesn't give skillups). The only reason he would catch them is if using a bot.

And I would be making a post like this if I were, right? Don't be dense and accusatory. Please, try not to assume that everyone is a cheat or a bot. Remember, you would have to observe the activity and prove it.

My log also never said you have hooked a useless item when I fished up Rusty Buckets and Rusty Leggings. It said "You have fished up a Rusty Bucket".

You can catch useless items at any level and yes I know they don't give skill-ups, and yes I know about the level 20 restriction and the ~ 30 day restriction. I do not recall at anytime that SE said you could not fish on a mule as long as you were high enough level and had the character longer than 30 days.

So, if I can fish up Greedies, Cobalt jellyfish, a bass and a Fat Greedie with no fishing skills in Selbina and get a .03 skill-up, why can't I catch even a crayfish in Bastok Markets or Port Sandy if you're so knowleageable Bumbeen?

If the requirements for fishing have changed in the last 10 months then I am not aware of it.

Fish are like any other mob, there is a maximum number that can exist in the water at any given time, and they have a specific restock rate. The restock rate increases/decreases with the phase of the moon.

There's nothing "wrong" with fishing (other than the fact that it's boring).

I just conducted an experiment, here are the results.

Started out this morning on the mule I wanted to try fishing on that is level 34 and almost 1 year old, same result as yesterday. "you didn't catch anything."

Sent Halcyon Rod and bait to second Mule, that has level 14 fishing skill, job level 24 and 4 years old character. Hasn't fished in 10 months or so. I fished normally in Port Sandy, catching 5 Moat Carp, 10 Crayfish, 2 Tri-Colored Carp, 1 Gold Carp and 1 pair of Rusty Leggings. I even changed jobs to a level 6 from 24 and fished normally. At exactly the 30 minute mark of fishing I started receiving the message "you didn't catch anything." This was continuous from then on.

Sent Halycon Rod and remaining bait to Main Character, level 8 Fishing Skill, job level 90, over 5 years old character. Main has not fished since the days of bots. Fished normally in Bastok Markets, catching 6 Moat Carp, 7 Dark Bass, 3 Black Eel's and 4 pair of Rusty Leggings. No skill-ups received on catching fish. At exactly the 30 minute mark of fishing I started receiving the message "you didn't catch anything." Again continuous from that point on.

I would venture that something has changed drastically in Fishing at some point during the last 10 months when my mule that has level 14 Fishing Skill could fish for a long time on the Ferry Selbina/Mhaura catching Nebs and receive small skill-ups.

I am going to report these findings to SE and see what they say. I do remember that something was done to fishing in the last 4 months or so, but honestly did not read the details.

So, I did more research, found the Fishing adjustments made back in April and please read what I found. This was posted by Bumbeen who earlier in this thread insinuated that I was a bot. Guess his/her INT decreased since this post made in June and he/she wasn't calling anyone a bot then.

"You only get 20+ didn't catch anythings in a row when you've hit fatigue cap.

Also fish are catchable on timers, or windows, there's no gear that can bypass a string of you didn't catch anything, it isn't just bad luck. Everyone fishing the same type of fish all are simultaneously unable to catch that fish when the window is closed.

Also, it only takes about 3 hours to hit fatigue cap in talacca cove with lu shang and lv90+ fishing.

Obviously they could make the windows smaller, like 1 minute on 1 minute off instead of 5 on 5 off. "

So, the answer to my question, at least on one mule and main is I hit fatigue cap after 30 minutes with level 14 and 8 Fishing skill respectively. Still no reason for me to NOT be able to fish on my other mule.
