It's magic in every other sense, but it isn't affected by magic attack bonus modifiers.
I mean if we keep getting cloth sets that give us magic attack bonus, shouldn't our class at least get the full benefit of magic attack bonus?

Bump for discussion?
Idk, it depends on how it was implemented. Would other melee RDM be happier with our amazingly lack luster gear sets we have been getting if they went towards or enspell damage?
Unless it can beat the benefits of Haste (more enspell procs, more physical damage, more TP), it won't matter.

While I know offense tends to be king in this game, we should probably never anticipate going sword and board to match dual-wield. Instead, that particular style should receive some utility tweaks. Like, people with Shield Mastery could randomly block an attack for those standing behind them. Since it's unlikely your average melee RDM would be holding hate over a more physical DD, them being able to reap the benefits of our defensive potential can make lives easier for healers or possibly save their lives.
Maybe let MATK affect the -resist on T2s (-10 by default, -40 if you have 30 MATK, for example), but I just want them to get set to function with on-cast enhancing levels before building on the fancy stuff.
Not really, RDM already has +28 MAB from job traits. that'd be 28% extra damage at least. IDK how much enspell damage usually is, but if It normally does ~11 you'd get 3 extra DMG just from job trait.
True, but It'd give those magian swords with MAB on them more use at least. Not to mention earrings/necks usually have no haste, but do have MAB.
I don't disagree that we should push for utility over damage. However, Enspell 2's should be doing more than just twice the damage of tier 1s. If the tier 1s are doing 25 damage a pop, the tier 2s should be doing around 70-80 damage just so it doesn't feel like such a concession. 1 handers are already missing out on better WS damage after all.
Yeah, but we do get better WSs in general. I'm not disagreeing with you at all on your stance. I have the same stance. I don't think dual wield should get everything and sword and board should get nothing.
T2s are a joke to anyone that really want to use them. I've been focusing on haste gear, just like everyone else, instead of focusing on my class specific damage. Why? Because you stop getting gains on enspell 2s.
I personally use an adoubeur's Pavise(+1 to shield mastery) when i solo. I love using a shield. We have shield mastery. I just can't take it seriously when i play with the other kiddies. I usually just use my lvl 45 Viking shield when im in a group. I just think it is sad that the best you can get it a lvl 45 shield. Feels like maybe SE forgot to make some gear for us.
