Well, I've already voiced my displeasure on this forum about having to shell out 20 bucks in order to get this item. I will reiterate my opinion that everyone who has previously purchased all 3 Abyssea add-ons should be able to receive this item at no extra charge. The Prishe statue is cool and all, but anyone who buys this new collection gets that too. To force us to buy this new collection in order to receive this item is a slap in the face to long-time players such as myself. Just because I've played for 8 years doesn't mean I have all jobs over level 30. This item would be very useful to me so I don't want anyone responding to me asking why I'm bitching about a useless item. It's the principle of the matter. On top of all this it's only available on PC?! This is ridiculous. My Dad purchased the last collection for Xbox when the world merger was scheduled for March. He wanted to play with me on Siren, but was prevented from creating his account due to the postponement of the merger. Now that his account is created (after spending his money and sitting on a useless game for months), this new collection comes out and he can't even get it! He would benefit greatly from this new hat as well as being able to get all 3 Abyssea add-ons. His only choice is to buy each one individually at 10 bucks, and another 20 bucks to get the hat. I am so angry with you right now SE. This is a slap in the face to long time players as well as new players on Xbox who would benefit greatly from this collection. So congratulations on ripping off my dad who is a brand new player. 20 bucks for the last collection he couldn't even use for months, 30 bucks more for all 3 Abyssea add-ons, and another 20 in order to get this hat that would be awesome for him as a new player. So 70 bucks? Really guys? You could at least offer this collection for download on the Xbox with the free hat. How hard is that? SE you should be ashamed of yourselves.

SE please don't destroy the earth just sell the god damn hat for $20 if that's what you want. Making all that plastic disks and packages for some old discounted content is not environmental friendly (of course you can download but I met they made 20k hard copies).

And you should know it, most of us already got the 3-abys so what you are doing is asking for another $20 but you are making it like it's a new fresh stuff for the others with all the advertisement.

Also what's the logic behind this I just don't get it. You can simply make an +1 version of the hat, with little stat increase (i.e. latent last up to level 35), for those who buy the package now, and give us the normal one then everyone will be happy.

I'm very disappointed.

As stated in a prior post, you are not paying for the hat when you buy this collection. You are paying for the collection, the hat is an extra bonus. No one is going to debate that some people are going to be angry that they cannot obtain this item because "They are long time Customers" because this item was not intended to be obtained by "Long time Customers". It is to attract new players that need a boost getting to level 30 so they can get a piece of the real action that this game has come to be, which is Abby.

So all in all, everyone please stop your complaining that SE doesn't care about you. If they wanted you to have the item, you would have the item. Everyone is upset of SE's failed decision and direction not just over this stupid hat which only works up til level 30. I assume, even they make it for everyone, may be only part of the population will have it obtained.

The problem is, SE no longer makes win-win decision and keep on making, especially those 'old people', relatively angry and disappointed.

Actually, no. If he buys the Collection for the hat, it includes all 3 Abyssea expansions. He's already downloaded them if he's up to date, he just has to add them to his account with the code. The PC code will work on a console. Add-ons are installed for everyone when they are released, they just aren't enabled until you buy the code. So $30 for the previous collection + $20 for the Abyssea bundle means he spends $50.

If I hadn't bought Abyssea to max out just one of my jobs when they were all released, I'd see this as a good deal, but as it adds nothing new except the hat, which can't be obtained any other way, and more than half my jobs are under 30 (never leveled a melee job, only mages) it's annoying. The video link posted the previous page or so explains the viewpoint succinctly.

See the YouTube link posted a page or two ago. Infinite Reraise on a lowbie job while stuck in the extended soloing levels is nothing to scoff at. Now that you don't jump into a party at 12-13 anymore, you tend to solo to 30, and for a completely different job than you've ever played before, you're not going to have the combat skills to keep up easily.

New XBox360 players can start with a simple solution here:
1) buy used version of either FFXI Collection 2008 (FFXI2k8) or FFXI Ultimate Collection (FFXIUC)
2) buy FFXI Ultimate Collection - Abyssea Edition (FFXIUCAE) on a computer
3) install FFXI/RotZ/CoP/ToAU/WotG on XBox360, launch POL, begin process to create new account
4) use FFXIUCAE Code to create POL account, and again to register FFXI/RotZ/CoP/ToAU/WotG/ACP/MKD/ASA/VoA/SoA/HoA.
5) Create character (use a Gold World Pass if you know someone that's already playing.)
6) Use Reward Code from FFXIUCAE, give Destrier Beret to newly created character.

Cash cost estimation:
FFXI(+RotZ/CoP/ToAU) used from Amazon: $4.00
WotG used from Amazon: $6
FFXIUCAE new on Steam: $20

Total: $30 (plus shipping)

Your dad can use the new collection, because registration codes are (as far as I know) not platform-specific.

The XBox360 collection he bought is not wasted, however, because you still need a disc to play on the XBox.

IF U DON'T FEEL BETRAYED BY SE VIA THIS REALLY HOT HAT DONT POST DONT READ AND GO PLAY. that being said im so mad i could beat the retard who decided since i payed 30 bucks for 3 addons and not 20bucks for everything i dont get this game changing hat. im madder than a skin head watching the jeffersons. watch SE wont give us this hat but will continue to pay lip service but do nothing, and make the game less fun by charging for somthing we bought with hard earned money just cause a new in game hats included. japan had a natural disaster i get that ppl who donated got a charity hat magian moogle looking hat. im american we are in resession moneys tight and we still pay for these add ons and the game fee. bottom line SE give us this hat cause u know we deserve it or dont and show you dont care about the loyal players and we will know not to show u any loyalty in return. theres many other MMORPGS released besides that horrible ff14 flop we can always go to those see if they value our time/money better cause i know u obviously have some kinda grudge against us 11 players. SquareEnix is a publicly held company. It exists as a business entity to make money for its shareholders.

Therefore, yes, money is more important than making customers happy.



Except, you see, there's one little thing: game companies make money by making games that make people happy. Happy enough to buy said games, anyways.





If having the Destrier Beret makes you happy enough that you're willing to pay $20 for it, then SE has successfully performed their duty to their shareholders.

If a new player who was on the fence about purchasing the FFXIUCAE has been swayed to buy it thanks to the Destrier Beret, then the SE employees who determined the method of its distribution have done their job.
