Why Do I Have To Compete With Other Players For Notorious Monters?

It is getting tiring trying to out pull other players for over camped Notorious Monsters or having to wait until they finish all their pops. Can we please have our own spawns.

Enforced cooperation where there is no desire to cooperate.

The fact is, this is one of the great enjoyments many players get.

It's called "***".

They not only get enjoyment by doing the content, but they get more by preventing you from doing the content.

This isn't going to change, sadly.

Everything in the game is designed to make it take as long as possible. If we got everything we wanted right away no one would keep playing.

Just team up with the other people camping the NM.

That or cancel your subscription and go play a single player game.

I personally enjoy this aspect of random spawn mobs, but only when you don't have to compete against 50 botters.

i love random spawn / timed spawns as well :) have for years

Did you even read my post? I want the same items as them. If I am in a party with 6 other people farmer seals neither party is going to want to team up. I shouldn't have to wait or have to try and out pull some by spamming a NM ???. Reading comprehension ftl.

Well this is an MMO. I hate to say it but team work is needed in most cases. I do not know what jobs you have and so forth and I understand that getting a free pop NM isn't that easy when its over camped. Se has said that the update will add the seals and such to NM's in the other abyssea area's. This should take away some of the competition. And some of the lower NM's that will be droping the seals and such will be easier to solo. Other then that all I can tell you is to gather some friends and have some fun or team up with others that are doing the NM you need. :)

Multi-posting to bump this thread and/or your post count on top of a dumb idea that equates to: "I don't want to deal with other people" certainly isn't helping your self-proclaimed stance of "I really don't want to flame but you got to be an idiot..."

Nowhere has "people wont help if they don't feel like they are not getting anything out it" ever been anything other than that, pre or post abyssea. That has always been the case. It's just that now, there are ways for people to get things they need while other people get what they need simultaneously. Getting through missions wasn't hard before abyssea because people would help you even though they got nothing out of it right? Yeah, everyone helped everyone do everything.

This is not something new. At all. The people are not different. The circumstances are not different. This is real life when you're dealing with jerks. And yes, a lot of people are jerks. Make real/better friends and you'll be a lot more successful.

This is the only way SE make you wait and wait and wait and wait.

All of you want to get something or kill something, SE is not giving you. What can you do?

Just go to Sobek in weekend how many PC you see there? 60? 70? all wants to pop a KI. Welcome to FFXI buddy!

Actually I team up with other parties farming the same seals as my group all the time.
We help each other proc weaknesses and kill which speeds up the whole process. One group can farm time whilst the other kills. If one group has finished needing X seal, they can give it to your group and vice-versa. You just say that whichever group pops gets the drops.

There really isn't any reason not to.

If anything abyssea has made people MORE willing to team up for the simple reason that you help each other get lights and TEs. I've teamed up with random people in abyssea before, in different areas in the zone to make getting lights and TEs easier whilst I farm. 90% of the time, people are happy to do this. 90% of the time when I'm farming a seal NM and another group comes, they (alliance space permitting) are happy to team up for the same reasons I stated above: We help each other proc !! faster, and we farm eachother time.

Abyssea, and Trials of the Magian have made people a lot more willing to team up. I don't know why you're so against it.

Don't try and pretend botting is remotely important anymore. The only things that were ever botted were Behe/Faf/Ada NQ/HQs and King Arthro. If it was Kimaira/Cerberus/Tiamat's last 1-3 windows and they hadn't popped, maybe there too. Ground Kings are getting changed to force pop. Khim and Cerb don't drop anything worth botting, and Timmy has such a large pop area that it was always more luck whether he popped in casting range or not anyway. King Arthro is the only one left but concidering every job except Rdm, Pld and Drk can equip Bullwhip or Twilight Belts, which are both very easy to get, and concidering that AV is easy to kill now and most "botting shells" will kill him to sell drops, that one isn't very important either.

Speed and Pos hacking, fishing, synth, skillup, and widescan type programs are still around, and are still troublesome. But Botting Kings and such anymore is pretty irrelevant.

@ person who said this is no longer relevant... try getting a Sobek pop @ night time in the US, you'll see it's entirely relevant still.

I hate competing during JP prime time, since it's when I'm up, and I have to compete / share with people I have little to no way of communicating with in an efficient matter. I want a fix too.

That's how it was when I played 6 years ago but obviously it is not like that now as a whole new breed of selfish players play now.

That is so untrue on my server. People like to low man everything in abyssea.(hell even the ls i am in does) I don't know how many times I went to a boss spawn and asked for an inv just for kill and got no response what so ever.

You want a single player/multiplayer rpg, not a massively multiplayer rpg. There's a difference, you're playing the wrong genre. I, for one, know what genre I am playing, and am playing that genre because that's what I want. Stop bitching about the genre of the game and go find a game that fits into the genre you want? I used to invite random people into my gruop to help them when Aby first came out. They would either try to /ask to lot everything we worked to get, mess up what we were fighting by going at it without asking or they would ruin out lights.

If it was that easy ff11 wouldn't be in the state its in having to server merge every year due to i dont know....people quitting because they can't get things done.

One could surmise there's another reason they've merging servers? You know, one that saves them the cost of maintaining so many, for such an old game? I won't say that numbers aren't dwindling because they are but certainly not at the rate people seem to think they are. If anything there was a surge of returning new players after the shutdown due to the earthquake (myself included in those returning).

This. I'm also a firm believer that they are still utilizing the older servers in order to increase the amount of server space and processing power afforded to each of the remaining servers. What's the point of maintaining an environment with only 1500~ people on it when the servers can hit 6,000? May as well combine and transform.

Then why didn't SE do this 2 years ago? My server(titan)has been in the 1.5K-2K pop since 2009 true merging servers were a reason to get cost down but the biggest reason was due to the declining population i guarantee it.

FFXIV didn't exist then? Anyway, "why now?" seems to be your question. Which I can't personally, factually answer other than its happening now because I'm not SE. They tend to wait extremely long times before doing things, if you look at their track record.

Most loss of players happened when they closed servers like Odin and Bahamut back around 08-09. I remember, as Bahamut was my original server. Bahamut used to have anywhere between 2.3k and 4k+ players at any given time before they closed it. A few months after they closed it, in october of the same year, there was 800 or less people online at any given time. I found it impossible to get things done and abandoned ship as they showed no signs of re-opening bahamut anytime soon. So, I moved to Phoenix. Phoenix in it's currently state, fluxes between 900 and 2k+ players online at any moment and is getting another server merged into it (Titan right?). That sounds like Phoenix is going to end up like what Bahamut was like right before they closed it. 3-4k+ players online at any given time. Thus, one could surmise that they are doing it to cut server costs, to maximize subscription costs, to pay for the failboat that is FFXIV, which didn't exist back then.

Why didn't they force-spawn Kings 5 years ago? Why is the Beetle's foot still backwards? I fail to see your issue with anything I said. Yes, having a low population would allow them to server merge. Heck, it would encourage it. If you can fit 4x the population of a server, you may as well combine two servers and then use the extra server resources to add functionality to the remaining ones.

Ewwwie, PSU. I quit that game for FFXI and vowed to never turn back I'm so happy People don't spam shouts in FFXI like they do in PSU .

Because if you didn't have to compete for the NMs everyone with the equivalent of a blackbelt want from your mob would be in this thread whining about how it's impossible to get since they can't monopolize the pop.

this has been a problem since the beginning of ffxi, i doubt it will ever change
