DRK Suggestion : Souleater II

Ok as far as i'm concerned Souleater near useless (if not completely)

Either way DRK isn't DRK without this ability so my suggestion is this.

New Job ability : Souleater II (Dark blade)
On use it consumes 40% of your Hp for a 1 min buff which lasts 1 WS
When you WS it'll double your WS damage. could vary with hp.
Recast : Shared with souleater (muted soul could also work on it)

I think this would work well while it wouldn't make drk the no.1 DD it would definitely give it the potential to have the highest spike dmg again.

And yea i know WHMs will cry but they can get 15-25 mp a tick these days so it's not so bad

There is absolutley nothing wrong with souleater.

WHM these days have literally an unlimited supply of MP and can keep a Drk topped off, get mages that don't suck period.

Agreed, a WHM that complains you use souleater is a lazy WHM. If a 75 WHM can keep me topped off in einheriar spamming souleater 90s have no excuse.

The only thing wrong with souleater is that we have no other job abilities that don't require another job (cure bombing mage) To use effectivley.

I'm really cool with souleater being how it is, if we get other things too. Otherwise the shit needs some synergy, most likely with a blood weapon JA.

The only other form of Souleater I wouldn't mind seeing is a form of FFIX's MP Attack. Otherwise, it's best left alone.

Try Playing any other DD job WAR SAM DRG and MNK all need a mage to heal them too .........

Cracking out 3k gills with only one atma hardly makes souleater useless. All the WHMs I've parties with since my return have managed to mostly keep me alive so no worries there. Though a way to make souleater less detrimental to our able to survive would be welcome. Uses 10% HP regardless of number of attacks during a we, maybe? Considering the numbers razed ruin can put out, I wouldn't see my above suggestion coupled with a lower recast being game breaking, though maybe there should be a further enmity penalty.

The numbers Razed ruin puts out <_< thats not a double or triple attack atma.........................


Also DRK has more than enough to compensate for using souleater.. drain and drain II are alot when other DDs have NO way to recover HP outside /dnc or another person.


Edit: oh and you can merit souleater recast so they wont be messing with that maybe make you be able to merit thaat along with the last resort stuff..

It's not really to do if we can survive or w/e it's more to do with the way it was vs the way it is. (honestly it should be risky that used to be part of the skill)

Before u could Souleater Guillotine or melee harder mobs for alot of dmg the cost was fair considering u'd bypass defense.

Now a DRK in souleater is still doesn't really compete with other jobs honestly Souleater is an expensive job abilty and the output should reflect that but it's doesn't anymore.

Maybe not this idea but souleater needs a buff so that DRKs can be what they used to be a High risk high spike dmg DD not the messy magic hybrid with tactical parry they are now.

In my opinion souleater is the main thing about DRK the magic and stuff was a side bonus but souleater used with skill before was a powerful tool now it's just something we can use to get a little bit closer to the other DDs.

@sedres i like the idea of it only costing 10% hp a ws to output the same dmg it would atleast let us spam wses at a faster rate inside souleater.

Another idea i liked is if souleater was tweaked that as lvl the output increase.

LvL30-40 10% hp -> 10% dmg
Lvl 41-50 10% hp -> 12.5% dmg
Lvl 51-60 10% hp -> 15% dmg
Lvl 61-70 10% hp -> 17.5% dmg
Lvl 71-80 10% hp -> 20% dmg
Lvl 81-90 10% hp -> 22.5% dmg
Lvl 91-99 10% hp -> 25% dmg

You forgot that all new nms since the great nerfing of souleater now build resistance and thus make souleater eat hp for no dmg increase, ya ppl always forget this one, and its crucial for endgame. However this statement is still somewhat true a whm has no trouble keepin up with souleater and the tank, butin situations where mass aoe is used then souleater becomes more of a problem. Either way you turn it souleater needs a buff, sublimation got a very nice buff and it has made sch even more of a endless mp machine, and thus souleater should receive a buff as well , for instance less hp per dmg, higher amounts of dmg per hp, and of course allowing us to actually get some use from it on nms.

As for the OP's ja, personally i think its strange, seriously it seems like it could do some good but how often could we use it? Thats a very important question because if its a 5 min or higher timer then might as well not bother, personally it should be a 1 min timer or a 3 min buff with 5 min recast so it can last for an extended period of time. I don't know some more info or ideas on this would be nice.

Really it could be 1 min - 5mins honestly i would take the trade of it being overpowered but on a long recast rather than be underpowered and on a short recast.

Also i believe the route DRK should go dmg style is massive spike DMG with an average DoT so that we're not trying to be WAR SAM MNK DRG. I mean this way it can work like this....

Stage 1 Self buffing
Using Jas and Magic to boost stats and tp

Stage 2
Pop large cooldown Jas to do large WS or melee spike dmg in a short period (1sec-30sec)

Stage 3
Enfeebling and weaking mob for the party while ur waiting on cooldown (also trying to deal with hate generated)

I mean sure we can ask to be like WAR MNK or SAM by spaming the same WS over and over but i'd rather DRK be it's own job if ya know what i mean. Also stage 1 and 3 give great room for new magic to be added to DRK maybe even stances too.

What I suggest to help use soul eater more frequently is give muted soul as a regular job trait. Taken from wiki (Reduces enmity while using Souleater by 10 per merit.) 50 max on enmity reduction. I had only one merit in it at one point. It was useful, pop soul eater and the tank was actualy holding hate. Its been a while and I could be wrong about that, but if it works as I think it does then that alone could really help us out.

If in fact it does reduce enmity while soul eater is active. We could use it offensivly and defensivly at the same time. Kind of a hate reset.

For example, We get hate from the tank, stun, weapon bash, or put up dread spikes, then use soul eater. Muted soul will then reduce our enmity either gradualy, or could make our hate reset instanly, while still doing higher damange while the mob is refocusing on the tank. At the last moment we can ws depending on the hp we have left.

Counter mesaures for souleater with lack of a healer would be nether void + drain 2, or if hp gets too low drain. Also if SE makes blood weapon (30 secs) becomes a regular job ablity or blood weapon job trait with a x% actvation rate, that would further help us out but probly be overpowered.

This would make us more of a spike dmg dd, neither void + drain 2, last resort, soul eater, with muted soul doing its thing we could go crazy again and hopefuly put out some impressive dmg numbers.

Also remove the soul eater reistance on regular mobs (if any have the soul eater buff) and most or some of the nms. Just my 2 cents.

Would be kinda like self destruct i suppose but a JA ^^

i was thinking along these lines, how about, bonecrusher: takes 90% of your remaining hp and converts it in to dmg added on to your next attack, and if u use a multi hit WS or proc double attack/triple attack it will be added on to each attack that lands.

The new update kinda hits what i wanted from a tweaked Souleater by making the cost less meaning the DMG reflects the cost.

I always wanted a Souleater II but with some different numbers. I want it to last longer and have a lower effect. Why not fulltime Souleater like SAM fulltimes Hasso? Like a stance. This way we can do the damage over time instead of spiking it over 1 minute. That way we can keep up HP instead of canceling Souileater after 30sec in some situations.

Hell even add Dread Spikes II with 2min duration and 25% effectivness.

Souleater II: duration 30 minutes, and 3-5% effective. Recast 30 seconds. (Melee stance)
*Souleater II stacks with Souleater I :)
Magic Stance: 80% Fast Cast and MP cost reduction, Magic Accuracy/Attack, Potency to Drains etc. Duration 30minutes, Recast 30 seconds. (does not stack with Melee Stance)

Oh yea: EnDrain would be nice too :cool:
