Are there any plans to remove Nyzul Isle Uncharted Area Survey from the PS2 and Xbox 360 versions to help with memory limitations? Considering, ya know, you kind of need Skype and some third-party programs to stand a fighting chance in the event because it's not balanced?
At least on Quetzalcoatl, shouters prohibit non-PC players and non-Skype users from joining Neo-Nyzul shouts. I don't blame them even 1%, because the event is set up to require third-party programs and voice chat due to the low time limit.
Are there any plans to remove Neo-Nyzul from the console versions, to extend the time limit even just 15 minutes for the event, or is the long-term goal for the event just to leave it as it is: an infamous inside joke of imbalance that everyone can agree on?
This topic has a very slight tilt toward the extreme, but with 100% dead-seriousness, the event needs to be adjusted so that players don't justifiably feel the need to require specific versions of the game, hardware, or outside programs. And also, eliminate the need for a revolving door of Scholars, because after each run, a SCH is dumped and replaced with a new one with a fresh 2-hour.
I play on the PC version, but all players would benefit from adjustment to this content.
Edit: No, I'm not seriously suggesting removing this content from the PS2 and Xbox 360 versions. I'm trying to make a point. Nyzul Isle Uncharted Area Survey has serious problems.

I normally don't do this. But.... Why would they remove content for a select group of people? As for the people not be included if the aren't on PC... That's just stupid. I'm not even going to beat around the bush on that. Px5: Prior Planning Prevents Poor Performance. Is it really so hard to discuss matters before entering? While most end-game things seem unreasonable ATM, realistic feedback and better suggestions on what might better fix the problem so that EVERYONE can benefit would best be suited. Why not ask for an in-game chat feature to be added? (Not likely, but hey.) After all the 360 already has a chat option and earlier PS2 titles supported Chat via USB Mics.

The OP wants to ban others because they can't skype or what ever chat program you may use. It's already been proven that the 360 can use chat and as said in my post the ps2 can support chat options as well. Is it going to happen, not a chance in hell, but it's still a better suggestion than just prohibiting players just because they don't own a PC, or have a PC strong enough to play a game. If the argument was: 'This needs adjustments do to lack of timing and functionality then I wouldn't have said anything. But the reasoning was because the inability to use MUCP... I just wanted to point out that if you want something changed it better to suggest something that benefits the whole and bring options to the table. -

I actually approve of the idea of not allowing ps2 or 360 players access to neo nyzul, but I think we should extend it to all new events that get added. That way SE can phase out the PS2 and 360. It's not like you cant get a PC that will run FFXI better than either of those systems for $50. You can get FFXI's PC version completely free if you already have an FFXI account too. Right now order lamp floors have have numbers on the lamps so right away the order is shown. Windower lets players look thru walls. SE must be aware of this windower program, its just really stupid SE lt this sort of thing happen. SE have any foresight? So everytime i see a player with +4 NIU gear i know they cheat, shame on them? Blame SE?
Fix NIU now so everyone can have this gear because if your intention was to make +4 endgame gear special, SE failed because its gear ppl get when they cheat. Now SE must make legit players happy or else. I say ban pc or anychance of the game being used with a third party program and leave the game to rot on ps2 and xbox -

I think we should ban SE for creating crappy content where the goal is to string us along as long as possible and to make it near damn impossible to finish without resorting to a third party cheat program. They need to stop with all these nonsensical BS balance. Almost all content pre-abyssea are a complete total disaster, an attempt to keep us running in a hamster wheel of death trying to catch the impossible dangling carrot. They made good progress with Voidwatch but I think dropped the ball with everything else.

There's another reason why I hate some of the endgame, when you're being forced to use chat software, I'm sometimes denied access to some of the content cos I refuse to use chat software and I actually have a valid reason.... i'm DEAF!
Luckily there are a few players who knows, that I know what I'm doing with my job and leaves me alone while chatting to all the other players... granted I often feel left out because i don't get to chat to these people, but what can I do... I can't help having a disability..... -

Hardly any chatting is required period, and for anything you do, most people short-handed it down to 2-3 letters, which you can easily type between WS, or during auto-run. Could always use a bluetooth headset with a mute button built-in to converse from a room or two away from your PC anyways while playing on a PS2/360. -

the fact people are complaining about this is sad and the that people still play on a ps2 or xbox 360 is equally laughable. i do however agree the time limitation is ridiculous and needs to be adjusted, but people complaining about windower use and skype need to get over it skype helps parties or groups communicate easily and actually speed up processes.

2) Just because you're playing on a console doesn't mean you don't have a computer and couldn't therefore, say, use a wireless headset and Vent or TS or Skype or Mumble.
3) Xbox players can use xbox's party chat for voice chat (a majority of my LS is xbox players and they all use this)
4) Voice chat and other stuff offers makes any and all content easier, not just Neo Nyzul. -

It is entirely possible to clear with a PS2/Xbox360. You just have to find ppl that accepts it and start rotating powder boots.
None of the problem you listed are unsolveable, you just have to try harder to make your own group that accepts console player. I tried /shout and post on server forums to find my ppl, and dragged friends, and they had no problem with the job I was using(BLU, which is considered inferior to 2h) and my console liked enviroment(I had another laptop on for skype), now I'm Thaumas 5/5. I have to admit win rate is a bit lower than many other statics(only avg 17 clear most of the time, compare with other group with 22 clears it's a bit lower), but it's doable in a console enviroment, that vid proves it, inb4 you doubt other pt member in the vid cheats, the discussion is about whether it's clearable in console enviroment or not.
Also, this event has 0 need to be adjusted. NF100 set is bandwagon enough, and probably fastest ex/rare gear to 5/5 in FFXI history. Making the time limit any longer just destroys the balance. -

As a player who has used vent for certain events I find that it isn't entirely necessary, but it also has it's perks. I'm limited on any of the voice chat software myself due to being mute, which also limits who I will play the content with also (since you run into those who think inability to speak some how inhibits the ability to listen;mute =/= deaf).
My biggest issue with this thread is more so those laughing at the console users or ostracizing them because they don't have a pc right next to their console setup to use voice chat software, or have one at all (yes, it's unbelievable but some still don't in this day and age). As the above poster mentions, it isn't unreal for a console player to be efficient, it just requires more effort on their part since they can't cheat to do so. In all honesty Neo isn't much different at all from the original, the primary difference being random floor skip progression and NM's with a certain degree of difficulty for 99 cap.
About the only thing this event really limits console players in participation is the ignorance of the random shout groups to do the event. If it is that big of an issue to you then I would highly suggest finding a group that can be built around those you know and static the event rather than complaining about those who shout saying "voice chat or gtfo." -

We have taken ls members *one at a time* on runs with us to gear them up since the content is so unbalanced.
that all being said , SE put this content and the 25 floor 80 win gimic in as a huge time sink. the event could be fixed simply by removing lamp floors totally. they are hands down the #1 run killer for any and all groups and the sole reason most people cant even join pugs without pc/skype/vent etc.
Neo is not hard at all , prefect example I have an extremely well geared monk but during my statics initial 4 runs we ran into alot of flan floors / amorphs and i eventually ended up changing to my war. Now my war is not ridiculously geared like my monk is but it is well above average but what my war doesn't have is a relic/mythic/empy. Now even without the massive dps boost of a proper war wep (im using the crit+4% GA) and a pretty decent upheaval set , im more then able to keep up with our other relic/empy DD's. So if you are doing neo you dont NEED relic/empy etc but you do need smart players.
The reason most people on PC's are able to clear this content and console users cant is simply communication.
We do our runs on vent , the 2 Sch's are CONSTANTLY in synch with each other on spell rotations rune control buff wear and 2 hour timers. All dps are calling out mobs as they see them be it boss location or simply whos training a zone with move+ so the others can hit lamps agro free. From a dps stand point we have adopted a split bunny hop kill style with 2 groups of DD's 1war+drk 1 war +war/mnk calling out a mob and the next dps grabbing the nearest mob. From what i understand about our sch's they are both geared (1 in 490ish other in 506) enhancing skill sets, and the spells they keep up are , embrava enthunder haste regen regain phlanx.
Also PLEASE USE TEMPS your dd's and mages should all have temps and food up for this event youve no room for slackers, and if your going with anything remotely close to a sub optimal setup stop and get the right gear/ players for the event.Your friends may not want to hear "sorry but you need a better dps job" but until your groups getting wins you need to cut people out and take whats needed to win.
if that helps anyones runs i hope so, either way to console users keep trying.
Neo is 20%skill 10%gear and 70% luck i say this because no matter how much of the first 2 your group has a 1>4>6>8>12>14>18>20..etc run = you are not getting to 100. -

Our group pretty much says nothing outside of <t>, DE (dead-end), calling our lamp-related crap, and general directions from rune to leader/specific-mob (N E N W - Go north, then east, then north, then west), and stuff between floor hops such as asking for a particular ~na spell or buff.
Not really anything that actually requires communication as long as everyone knows the general flow of the run and how to act. -
