Lets make Merits exchangable to CP/AN/IS

Hi all,

I don't know about you but I found that I'm stuck at 30 merits and 9999 exp all the time because I have used up all my merit slots same with my fellow LS members.

Maybe SE could implement an exchange NPC for Merits and Conquest points/ Allied Notes/ Imperial Standing for lets say 1 merit point for 1000 equivelant points (10% of exp) like you would get for exping in that zone with the proper signet.

I know I have wasted enough exp that could've leveled several jobs to 99 from VW/Abby etc. So maybe this idea could be a nice addition.

Converting merits to CP/AN/ISP is a bad idea, because xp is dirt cheap to get in abyssea.
A better idea would be to increase CP/AN/ISP points when your xp overflows, like it does with limit points. If you get 200 xp in a conquest area, and both xp and limit xp is capped, you gain 20 (normal) + 20 (overflow) CP. Note that this only counts for normal xp, not bonus xp such as GoV pages. (Exp rings multiply normal xp, so those bonuses do count.)

You're suggesting is exactly whats being Suggested in the OP in terms of % Value? The only thing you're doing is adding the unnecessary stipulation of having to be exping in the areas you would trade it in at. Sounds lame >_>

He's asking for 10% of the Exp you earn to be converted to AN/IS/CP, Where as you're suggesting 10% of the Exp you earn be converted to AN/IS/CP, but only if you're capped on Exp.

Seems like unnecessary walls, so, naturally i think it has a better chance of getting in :D

I think you're missing the point of what I'm trying to make. They can increase ratio of CP/AN/IS if they want based on your idea and you still won't find me intentionaly farming exp points in the respective areas just for AN/IS/CP.

Try to emphiasize on the Merits wasted rather than AN/CP/IS.

The concept here is to be able to continiously use Merit points on something consumable rather than increasing constant Merit groups which for most will cap out again very quick.

To me AN/CP/IS seems like a logical choice for exchange as that is what you normally earn with exp (well Cruor as well but i don't think that will go well).

It doesn't seem too much hassle in terms of programming wise (don't take my word for it its just a guess) as the moogle for lvl cap quests does something similar where the moogle takes your merit points in order to give you a new lvl cap.

If you got other ideas for Merits exchange feel free to post your ideas.

I would love to find something infinite to do with merits. This suggestion fits that perfectly. Right now, as the OP says, people sit at *cap*
If we can exchange merits for something that is unlimited (like AN/CP/IS) then we will never have a problem with "wasted" xp.

Ofcourse my suggestion has a better chance of getting in, because I thought it through more.

The OP is suggesting to take 300.000 xp and converting it into 30000 CP/AN/ISP... but of that 300k xp, how much is REAL xp, and how much bonus xp from abyssea chains, chests and NMs?

An easy prey mob gives 1 xp for 18 people, yet it gives 600 xp in abyssea at cap. Every 5 mobs you open a 1250 xp bonus chest, so you're looking at 850 xp vs 1xp. So that 300k xp is really worth 353 xp, or 35 CP/AN/ISP.

Feel free to plug in more realistic data figures, but you will still not get anywhere near a sizable fraction of the 30k the OP is suggesting.

Nah :P. nothing you said is the reason I think it'd get in more. Its because its needlessly complicated and seems to involve pointless walls and bottlenecking.

CP, AN, and IS Aren't some magical points that are so broken we need to stop their flow or introduce walls. They're not more Important than Cruor. His idea is to get right of the Excess EXP We have, not to continue to store it for a bonus.

The only thing CP/AN/IS Offer over Cruor thats actually useful are Jade Cells, and Voiddust. Neither of those are hard to get with a trip to Campaign. With your Suggestion, People would continue to just do Campaign for everything, because Your idea gives a 20% return from Kills, Where campaign gives 50%.

Your idea would just be a useless addition to the game that'd only benefit people mass-farming mobs in Book Burns, The majority of which have names like xxbnej xxmkeue xmsnjajd cnvnjeu, Which, Don't exactly sit well with me.

His idea would give people a helpful flow of Voiddust from doing Voidwatch. I think a 5% Trade off would be better, 30 Merits = 15,000 CP/AN/IS. You know why?

Ig Alima gives 20k Exp with no bonuses. Which means each Fight you'd get 1k IS/AN/CP, Every 4 fights You'd get 2 Voiddust in return from the Exp you gained. Personally, I kinda just think maybe You're making bank off Voiddust, and an update like this might lower the prices.

Depending on the NPC(s) involved, it could even be made to make sense from a "story" or "in-world" perspective. You'd tell the NPC about how many grossly-groined goblins and sentient daikon radishes and other-worldly log-monsters you had smote, and the NPC would provide you with a stipend to keep you working for that nation because you're awesome.

Or, that NPC would just really enjoy your tragecomedic tale of kicking a goblin in it's beastman-made codpiece and later obtaining an Elm Log from a seperate universe's God of Death and give you the points in exchange for the awesome story that made him or her laugh and cry.

Except that 20k exp is bonus exp, so you'd get 0 IS/AN/CP. And no, I'm not a dust peddler but a woodworker. And despite my love for logs, I don't see the need to take garbage (xp) and pretend it's gold (dust).

Bonuses as in "Cells".

Even if the exchange rate was 1 merit => 1 CP/IS/AN it would still be better than what we currently have.

That'd be horrible. If they did this then it should be something like 1 merit = 1000 points/notes/standing

Allow us to exchange Traverser stones for Voiddust too, I'm almost at 1000 stones that probably will never be used and became totally useless.

That was more of an exaggerated example and I was wishing for the OP's suggestion to happen, not my example.
Besides, what you described is the exact same as OP's suggestion.

That or allow merits to be converted into cruor. There is no shortage or difficulty in obtaining cruor so there really is no reason why that can't happen atleast. Than take it a bit further and follow in the footsteps of seal conversions. Allow us to exchanges cruor for CP/IS/AN at a 10-1 ratio or even 100-1 ratio.

It's a good idea, but wouldn't get implemented since SE already used "Lore" as their reason for not doing something.

I think Kristal has an idea they may actually implement, since it would fit with lore just fine.

OP's idea would also increase the gil gilsellers make doing 10 hour cleaves by a fair amount. Or just destroy the voiddust market value, which wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing since they're likely to go up after the update because of tickets.

So we have a new Merit cap for attributes which happens to be capped already...

Come on SE give us something consumable to do with our merits...

I really doubt this will happen in any form, unless SE expands on the merit system further or adds a higher level version. This is a ten year old issue. Experience earned at the cap is wasted, but there is still things you can do with that job beyond earning experience. The only thing that has changed in the last ten years is what the point is where experience starts getting wasted.

However, there are problems increasing CP/AN/IS gain can create problems because you can buy things with those to sell to other players. Those items could potentially be devalued immensely as a result. That has a whiplash against the few new players coming into the game because they can actually make a fair amount of money reselling that gear after they used it. So, there is a minor economic issue that could be created just for the sake of people not feeling like experience is being "wasted" even though their primary motive for what they are doing isn't experience anyways.

Why not simply allow us to spend our merits Goblin Mystery Box Style?

10 Merits = 20 Points. Maybe not something big, But a dump non-the-less.

Since it seems a lot of players are experiencing a shortage of seals, what if a type of exchange were possible to trade merits for BCNM orbs. You could do a one way exchange with Shami to store your merits. Then spend 30 merits for a KS30 orb, or save up 99 to do a KS99. More of a pipe dream, spend merits to get a ra/ex item to gain access to locked battlefields like Fiat Lux, provided you meet all of the requirements except for the zone control part of it.

As much as I like the idea I can safely say that will never happen with with gil drop BC's, I'd be meriting non stop getting ks99 orbs to get King pops :O
