This may be true, but if you were to come across a wild Chocobo in the wilds of Adoulin, how would you defend yourself? Would an adventurer simply run from the battle? Chocobos are much faster, there is no way we could out run them, would we rather give our lives than battle a Chocobo? I think not, we are adventurers who travel the world doing many great things, we could not let it end in such a way.
I admit no one would generally just walk up and attack a Chocobo, but if one is attacking you, you must defend yourself. These unexplored wilds hold unknown enemies of all forms, Chocobos could easily be one of these unexpected dangers, and while people of Vana may not want to harm them, if any Chocobos survived all this time out there without any of us to help or care for them, by this point they must think of any other race as their enemy. Meaning we are now seen as a threat, and would be attacked in self defense to protect themselves, even if we mean no harm.
