I kliked this till i reached drk from there down i became ify, DRK should not be holy anything, maybe death knight. SAM maybe like ronin i guess. NIN i would def say shinobi. SMN i would say caller cus evoker does sound like a step down, i agree with that comment. pup and dnc upgrade were cool as well.
I agree, PLD would be holy knight because... THAT's what they are if you look at their job description. I don't think bst is really a necromancer though. Nin could not be an Assassin because the relic gear for thf is Assassin's, you also have it listed for 2 different jobs. I am all for the tier 2's of the jobs though. Any of these systems to have roots in good ideas.
PUP= Jester, Bst = Tamer, PLD= Divine Shield, Smn= YuGiOh(j/k) War= Breaker, Monk= Fighter, Whm= Healer/Watcher Blm= Necromancer, Rdm= Trickster, Nin= Assassin, Sam= Shogun, Thf= Brotherhood, Dnc= Stepmaster, Cor= omg omg Pirate, Ranger= Sharpshooter ....
...but isnt our job upgrade called "Artifact" and "empyreon" armor?
Aside from the name/conversion list I posted. I feel that a whole set of levels for the step up wouldn't be well-liked, having to level again and all. Perhaps a certain criteria should be reached, that simply switches your job's name to one of these. Like maxing out merits for the job plus whatever the new merit system will be for the 99 cap. And Maybe one set of armor or ability/spell for these classes to distinguish them further. This way, the game wouldn't become horribly unbalanced.
but the game isnt horribly unbalanced... se make a point of not giving us what we want to preserve said balance
I'd like to level something new and wouldn't mind going to parties (not abyssea leech) and experience the game again with something new and refreshing, not only me but it's nice to see others learning their new abilities and finding out what they can do with it. If you simply change to the new job you wouldn't really experience that job, isn't that true?
I like the ideas people are coming up with, but haven't seen major ideas sprouts as the possibilities, job abilities, 2hrs, new contents.
I propose Tier II jobs, not necessary all jobs, but I do understand the difficulty and the fear of game imbalance. I'm simply curious of what people come up with, the possibilities. I want to see some creativity magic form! :D
There is so much job imbalance as is lol, don't see much change from what it is right now.
I actually like this idea and fully support it. Reminds me of the "upgrade" you got from the original Final Fantasy, where you had to go to the Castle of Ordeals, get the Rat's Tail and deliver it to Bahamut.
I love leveling jobs but since all of my jobs are 70+ except for COR being able to level the "old school" way is pretty much out the window. I'd love to be able to level in the n00b zones again!
My ideas for job upgrades.
WAR - GLD (Gladiator)
MNK - MST (Master)
THF - BRG (Brigand)
WHM - DVT (Devout)
BLM - BWZ (Black Wizard)
RDM - MSK (Mystic Knight) """I had a hard time thinking of this one, but RDM with all of it's En-Spells fits the Mystic Knight of FF5 perfectly)
PLD - HOK (Holy Knight) or WHK (White Knight)
DRK - BLK (Black Knight)
BRD - """"I can't think of anything here"""
BST - TAM (Tamer)
RNG - SNP (Sniper) or HNT (Hunter)
DRG - LNC (Lancer) or DKN (Dragon Knight)
SAM - BSH (Bushido)
NIN - ASN (Assassin)
SMN - CAL (Caller)
BLU - MAG (Magus)
COR - PRT (Pirate) or GMB (Gambler)
PUP - JST (Jester)
DNC - PRF (Performer)
SCH - SGE (Sage)
BRD = Justin Bieber
Bard would be Minstrel or Maestro.
Summoner could become Beckon Mage, a tribute to Bacon Mage. /joke
Summoner could become a Conjurer.
Paladin could also become Crusader. (or Cruorsader, if i wanna make a joke)
Mnk >> Sumo Monk uses body and so would sumo no idea on abilities other than they would be physically based,
Eh. My thoughts:
WHM > Prophet or Cleric
RDM > Warlock or Estoqueur
BLM > Sorcerer or Elementalist
THF > Rogue or Assassin
WAR > Viking, Gladiator or Warlord
MNK > Ascetic or Pugilist
SAM > Ronin or Shogun
NIN > Koga, Iga or Shinobi.
PLD > Templar
BST > Warden
DRG > Lancer
BLU > Magus
SCH > Sage
BRD > Minstrel or Maestro.
SMN > Demonologist or Mystic
Unlisted are ones I couldn't think of anything for.
These are good ideas leatherman, and I'd love to see a system similiar to this, though I would do it a little differently. This is what I would do, and it could be incorporated into the current system a lot easier as well.
Once the level cap has attained it's final peak I think players should be able to do a quest that allows them to unlock a single sub job to where they can take it all the way. That would allow players to customize the mastery of their jobs similiar to what you are saying without introducing an entirely new system. This would give players a lot more individuality at the end of the game also.
So for example if a dragoon wanted to be a "dragon tamer" he could choose beastmaster as his ultimate sub job and take it all the way, thus fusing the two jobs together into it's own unique class.
This would be really cool I think, and allow all sorts of new classes to be created and would only need to fuse together the current ones - and perhaps they could add new abilities and spells only allowed to certain combinations for even more options. Paladins and White Mages for example could combine to become a Cleric or a Templar like class. Black Mages and White Mages could combine to become like FuSoYa from Final Fantasy 3, or a Ranger could combine with a White Mage to mimic Rosa. Warriors could combine with Samurai to become like your "Gladiator". Possiblities are pretty endless.
PUP should upgrade to ENG Engineer
Ability to summon/create Martelos to boost party/alliance with TP/HP/MP regen
A more in depth Automaton like those big metal monsters from ToAU.
Able to repair Martelos and what not. Different type of of Martellos such as DEF,ATK,MAB,MDB and so forth. Able to Summon 2 types or maybe max-out with Merit Points Lv3 to a total of 3 Martelos.
Another thing, these jobs would NOT be able to be selected as Support Jobs. So no worries about how would people use them as support.
Final Fantasy I had job upgrades even. White Mage - White Wizard, Black Mage - Black Wizard, Red Mage - Red Wizard, Black Belt - Master, Thief - Ninja, Fighter - Knight. I know this can't change exactly like this, as thief and ninja are seperate jobs now, but this is pretty much how it happened. They introduced higher stats, ninja gained use of black magic like drk and knight gained use of white magic like pld. Also, the mages gained access to more spells themselves upon upgrading.
Evoker > summoner, be funny to see the flip work lol.
this reset idea would encourage us meeting new people if they somehow stop astral flow and abyssea leech leveling.
I would really support it if SE could really give big expand to the game ( have to get rid of ps2)
Here's a few I have been thinking about, I don't know how effective they'd be but it'd be cool to see;
NINv2: Given abilities similar to the Kuji-Kiri, the nine cuts, to boost their abilities in specific actions like damage, shadow tanking etc.. Info taken from Wikipedia
- Rin: Strength of mind and body, att+ STR+ buffs maybe
- Pyo: Direction of Energy, Increased effectiveness of self-buff ninjutsu
- Toh: Harmony with the universe, acc+ and/or abilities to ensure you're holding the mobs attention
- Sha: Healing of self and others, exactly what it says on the tin
- Kai: Premonition of danger, Seigan/Third Eye-like effect
- Jin: Knowing the thoughts of others, increased evasion, parry, defensive stats + enmity for tanking
- Retsu: Mastery of time and space, increased accuracy/success with enfeebling ninjutsu
- Zai: Control of the elements of nature, increased accuracy/damage with elemental ninjutsu
- Zen: Enlightenment, knowing the weaknesses of your enemies, intimidating them and stuff?
RDMv2: Enhancing their sword skills and enhancements, making them more of a front line mage and give them W-Magic/Doublecast or similar abilities to affect their spellcasting amount/effectiveness.
PLDv2: Brick s&#$ house tank with good offensive capability, ability to protect party members from severe damaging attacks without having to reposition self and also to manage enmity more effectively.
SAMv2: Increased ability to coordinate skillchains and to boost the ability of party members to join with them in creating more powerful skillchains, Lv.4+ maybe? ^^;
DRKv2: Batman! Give them a tool belt with some toys to climb up buildings like Adam West, seriously though, I have no idea what to do with DRK.
Instead of creating a new char class...Tier2 could be the impetus to some really kickazz t3 merits. For example at 99 MNK becomes and gets title of Grandmaster (Blu=Immortal, etc) and would open up merits with some of the abilities ya want implemented. I'm sure it would be easier than opening 20 new jobs.
as a followup...in this way a WAR (general, barbarian gladiator?) could become a literal blood tank. for every hit it takes its attack rating jumps allowing it to hold hate through damage (which, admittedly it can anyway) as long as its cure bombed. its attack would be cumulative but there would have to be a severe drawback to this that i haven't thought up yet. defense down would be obvious but i dont really wanna mimic a perm souleater type effect.
If you did sacrifice your old job to begin again at lvl 1 with the new stronger version, I see a big issue. After a while, when enough players have done this, it would make it virtually impossible/veeeery difficult for any new players, or old players lvling new jobs, to level...
Everyone would be going for the tier 2 jobs to lvl with and leave the tier 1s in the dust, I'm sure there would be people who'd even wait for a tier 2 to pop up even if tier 1 jobs were available (basically how it was for old school drg way back, except for every tier 1 job). And yes I know you could say they could just solo up now with the fancy boost in xp yield and everything else, but thats just not what ffxi is about...
I agree, don't need 20 new jobs. If we could come up with some that would be considered Tier II and yes they would be stronger than average. At least 1 tank, 1 healer and 4 DD 1-2 Support.
Tank = Crusader
Healer = Devout
Damage Dealer = Geomancer, Fighter, Assassin, Wizard...
Support = Performer, Engineer, Pirate
2hrs for tank: Goddess Blessings - Absorbs phisical and magical damage for a short period of time. Generates incredible ammount of hate.
Healer's 2hrs: Resurrection - Heals and revive everyone in party/alliance within range. Death penalty cut in half.
Just some random ideas...
Ive thought about this for several years now. i thought it would be a good idea to to have several jobs leveled to a certain level to unlock another tier. for example, war 75 + mnk 75 = gladiator or blm 75 + rdm 75 = necromancer. but i think someone has already covered this in the thread somewhere. good idea though.
Chiibi what programs do you use to touch up your animations?
DRG 75 + PUP 75 = PUPPET KNIGHT
Can there be a Bee Mage?
I was reading through and i think the way they could balance this and still be awesome make it so tier II job classes can't use sub job so what you have if you picked the tier II sam is the equivalent of sam with sub of sam and then give access to job abilities and spells early and give slightly better and more bonuses so no sub job to try and make up the short comings of a job.
bacon mage got locked and this gets 8 pages? whats the difference?
Dark Knight > Death
