The OFFICIAL "I intend on Quitting, and here is why" Thread

Atm I am considering quitting.

Reasons:

1. The absurd relic/mythic trial that was brought up on the testserver. Dont understand me wrong, I did my relic back then at lvl 75 (4 years) now, when Dynamis was shit. I like challenges, but that Trial is just absurd and for the fact, people get older, I really dont ahve anymore the time to commit myself to such a game like back then. The motivation is down, because one never can really complete those trials.

2. Voidwatch: The loot system is ass, the Fights itself are ass. SE wanted to make something challening, thats fine with me, but they made Voidwatch ass. The fights are piss easy now (proc zerg style). The fact you need 18 people for this doesnt help, lowmaning is the key for FFXI. The procsystem from VW prevents lowmaning with 6 people. and the loot system sucks hardcore... 6 months since voidwatch introduction and countless fights later... still no rare/ex body.

3. Rehashed content: dont get me wrong, I like what they did to Dynamis (minus the proc system), it still doesnt change the fact that the content is ... old. Yes Dynamis is old, no matter how you turn it around, its the same thing as before just with another package and looking at the future there is only comeing more rehashed old content (tough I liked and still like nyzul and salvage), or there is comeing endgame that is ass (WoE is ass and VW is ass too).

4. no new areas. I would actually move this to the top. I would really like to see a new expansion on the scale of ToAU with totally NEW areas.

5. Dev Team: Ever since Abyssea ended, we only got... ass updates. I am frustrated with this Dev team since Tanaka got fired on FFXIV and moved back to FFXI. Noone is listening to concerns. People are voicing frustration over the VW lootsystem since the relase of it (6 months ago) and still no change... Its like we are back to olde SE where the Dev just closes their ears... yeah no thx had that and dont want to have that again.

This is definitly the last MMO I played from SE. No way in hell am I gonna touch FFXIV. I bought that game at release and got disapointed (literally stoped playing after 5 hours because it was so ass), now with the latest trend of FFXI, I really doubt SE will ever get a MMO right EVER. The same shit will start at FFXIV too, so no thx.

Yeah, their not spending it on FFXIV. Their spending it on developing other successful games and then taking the money they make from those and spending it on FFXIV . It's totally different.

I agree 100%. In the end, all of these games are simply part of a business.

FFXIV left such a horrible taste in my mouth from the beginning. I remember when it came out that SE was developing a new MMO. They announced their intentions and said "This will not be a Final Fantasy MMO and it will NOT be the equivalent of an add-on or sequel to 11"--it would be a completely different game. Then they release more info, and they decided to call it Final Fantasy after all. That left us 11 players wondering if they intend to abandon their current game and force the move to 14.

I'm not even going to go in to the failure that was 14, but I do believe if it wasn't so terrible and people subscribed, they would have gladly started to wind down 11 in the hopes people make the switch. I'm not saying shut 11 down completely ( I just KNOW someone would try to call me on that one lol), but they would more or less put it on auto-pilot. Eventually there would have been abyssea and a level cap increase, but I think it would have been a much different timeline. All things considered, Abyssea wasn't terrible, per se, but they were clearly not planning for any large scale release of content in the near future. I believe they were making a business decision and decided to put all their stock in to the success of 14. Nothing wrong with that, but unfortunately it didn't pay off, and we're paying for it. FF11 has been an after thought for a number of years now, that much is pretty clear.

I also feel that this level 99 cap increase was done VERY abrupbtly as well. It came out of nowhere. It felt like one day we were level 95, then the next day we were level 99, but had absolutely NO level 99 content to go with it. Maybe they did it to keep people away from TOR for the holiday season? I can really only speculate, but it just doesn't feel right to me.

In the end its the same company with the same history of lying and poor customer service. To me, replacing 11 with 14 really isn't a great option.

Not necessarily. We can actually go to the Square Enix Corporate Website and read the annual report to investors. It more than likely will actually list how money is being allocated to specific projects, and also where that money is coming from.

I'm finding myself leaning toward non-MMOs right now, but that always happens to me in waves. BF3 is great after the update, I have backlog of single-player games (haven't even opened Sonic Gen), and actually, XIV is pretty damn fun now. plus, XIV's future is very, very rosey indeed.

They rushed 14 out to compete with a WoW expansion. That completely backfired.

"Oh geez! We better make nice with the 11 crowd." Throws everything, but the kitchen sink at us via abyssea.

"OK we have just about a year b4 XIV 2.0 comes out, and the game is less turdlike." Strings along XI faithful with more VW (crap drop rate/system), WoE (freaking dead as a doornail on weekdays, barely operational on weekends in JP primetime), and revamp/add multitudes of timesinks to old content).

"See! In a year XIV will finally be worth paying for, and XI users will be so bored to tears they will have no choice. They must move to XIV..." No thank you!!!

Honestly.. SE wake up, and throw some money at the XI Dev team for god's sake. Is it really that difficult of a concept.

PS: Guy who always denies the majority of profits from XI are not being funneled into correcting XIV... seriously? Are you really that delusional?

5. Stress. A lot of newer content seems to be full of it. When I was 15 I was willing to go through the stress and suffering of events to get armor I wanted. Now I'm 23 and that doesn't fly well anymore. I won't spend 4 hours a day, twice a week for 3 years doing an event I hate to get armor. I won't put up with the headaches of selfish players. I won't put up with the favoritism of linkshell leaders. If that's the only way to play then I quit.

In the end though, does it really matter? They are still taking money that you willingly give them and use it on what they want.

It would be like me going "man, I really hate the grocery part of Wal-Mart but I like to buy my games there. The money I give them for games better only go toward the electronics department to carry more games I want!"

Just doesn't work that way.

I doubt I'm quitting for good but I am taking a month or two off at least. I do not find the post-90 content enjoyable, fulfilling, or rewarding. The voidwatch rewards are nice enough but trying to get a drop is like waiting for lightning to strike. Both WoE and VW take more people than I know who are on at once and joining those shout groups with 17 strangers takes me well out of my comfort zone. I also don't feel I need the top end gear to perform well any more. I do just fine without the HQest of the HQ.
I'll probably come back off and on and enjoy a single month's worth of new content out of 6 if they keep the direction they are headed in. I've already done dynamis, nyzul, salvage, limbus, and einherjar to death when I was 75 and a few excursions to the renewed events seem exciting, but I am only really willing to put a fraction of the time I originally spent there into the new portions.
In short, I have more interesting things to do and less time/patience to grind tirelessly for 1% droprates.

I dont log in and play anymore and I havent for some time. I just cruise the boards now and then after an update to see what ppl feel about the new content and if its still worth my holding onto. Honestly I am waiting until the next roadmap before I completely close my account. If they are going to give us another HUGE expansion I will stay to check it out but if its just a few little things I will cancel completely.

And I LOVE how ppl who havent played xiv since just after beta or havent played it at all like to dog on it. "I will NEVER play another SE title EVER!" Sure ya wont. The fact of the matter is they are spending money on xiv, and alot of it, but not on xi. XIV is suffering from lack of content atm due to them fixing what tanaka broke but come feb in one of the major updates we get every 2 months, the content is going to start coming in and continue to do so until v2. It was even said the first xiv expansion is in developement. Seemings our server has about 1k ppl on it at any given time even tho its a 'fail game' should show how its progressing.

So if say HBO just stopped using your subscription fees to license new movies, and make new shows, and decided to spend it on say an oil line through kuwaite, you would be ok with seeing the same shitty shows for all eternity?

Defend it all you want to the damage is done. I won't say its impossable for a game to recover from a bad launch just that its never been done and with SE track record these past few years they won't be the first. Yes I can never "buy" another SE title yet still play the good ones on the used market. That hurts SE and at this point in time they need to be punished. That is how companies learn.

Also "your server" has 1K players at peak is fact that its not the norm. Other servers barely get 300 to 400 at peaks and are getting merge(its going to be eatten alive in the reviews). It may one day recover the cost but damage has been done and the true cost will not be know for years. Also like I been saying whats to stop them from pulling the same crap with FF14 when its starts to become dated will they milk your MMO to fund another or will they update it. Will they cut the dead weight of a console if it started to hold back the game? Another fact is 1mil people may not bother with FF14 and after the crap they did with FFXI to push out 14 the mass player base migration they had hope for will also not happen.

While SE might not go under. They will keep merging with other comapnies to get thier hands on titles they haven't burn to the ground to stay a float, oh wait they just did that not long ago. Then their is the the other MMOs that are better then anything SE could dream of producing.

That review is from 3 months ago before the true numbers of 14 were known and before SE fially amitted they will have to merge servers.

Only one? That review really didn't say much besides "its getting a little bit, but still needs a lot of work"

What also speaks for it is the first results that come up on google are negative. I thnk you put in "good reviews for FF14" cause just putting in reviews for FF14 yeilded the IGN.com review bashing it to hell. Even FF11 hasn't shed its past even though it is now easier and faster to level then WoW.

I think you are missing the point.

Can XIV make a come back? I believe most say its possible but they wouldn't count on it. SE can say things that make everything sound great, but then implement poorly.

Sadly, need to realize, this game wont even been relevant again till 2013 and by then, even more MMOs can come and people will forget all about it. Star Wars is already starting up, and if GW2 comes out before then, that could very well kill anything XIV has going fo rit.

I admit it may make money I also admit it did far more damage then can be measured at this time. The PS3 is over a year off and with so many MMOs out and the fanboys of old Final Fantasy waking up it doesn't look good. The final Fantasy name has been taking hits for years and the fanboys of it are now leaving it behind. FF11 came out in a time when MMO were new and the FF name wasn't as tainted, now people know what they want to expect out of MMOs and SE is behind the times.

I'm in Fran's LS and just quit this month. This is exactly the sentiment I've been having.

I don't think I will quit FFXI anytime soon. I am frustrated at a couple of things, but I don't think that is enough to make me quit.

Right now, I am working an extra job, which basically takes all off my FFXI time, except for some on the weekends. So if this is the down point for the next couple of months, it comes at a good time for me, because I am missing it.

I main RDM. If you don't know why that would make me contemplate quitting, then you don't main RDM. Several jobs are very under powered or unattractive compared to others, but they aren't balancing this game in a method that inspires confidence. WAR and MNK needed nerfs? No Duh! You missed NIN, but outside of aby it's not such a big issue. So my question is, why start with the bad news for popular jobs, instead of starting with the good news for jobs that actually need it? There is no transparency on what is coming for the jobs that actually need attention. We have no idea when the jobs that are actually hurting are getting fixed, if ever.

2nd issue is when are we getting new story? We were told Cait Sith and Atmos were coming for SMN. I assumed that we would get new stories with that. I love Nyzul, so I'm assuming I'll actually be able to get people together for that more consistently after they do revisions. I don't mind if SE wants to get more mileage out of current content by making it more accessible like they did with dynamis, but I completely expect new plot lines on something in the near future. This game was semi-story based at one point. The story for aby is, once upon a time adventures were so bored of their own world, that they were willing to go save an alternate reality for the promise of better loot...that's it. There wasn't anything new or interesting TBH.

To voice my opinion of FFXIV vs FFXI, it's simple. The crafting in FFXIV was awesome. What you made with crafting was completely pointless, because the combat was boring and unimpressive and the story line was awful. Anyone that played FFXI at any point can tell you that the jobs in FFXIV are a low point and the game shouldn't be called FF because it doesn't use FF jobs. There are many things that FFXIV failed to achieve for it's players that FFXI got right on day one or shortly there after. Everyone expects FFXIV to be better than FFXI and that is what is going to have to happen if they want FFXIV to ever see the light of day with a profit.

Make a decision SE. At some point you are going to run out of interest in your MMOs if you don't start taking this seriously. I'd rather not play FFXIV because I enjoy FFXI significantly more. If you let FFXI become stagnant and you don't make REAL changes to FFXIV that cater to FFXI players, then you won't be keeping us. I played FFXIV at beta and i played it 5 months later for a month. Both times were complete disappointments. FFXIV at some point may or may not be worth picking up a 3rd time, but I'm not holding my breath and I'm not paying SE a dime until they restore some actual confidence in their game.

Ok i'm not quit this game since i play this game more than 7th years and still have friend to play with if i will quit this is my reason.

1. No more friend to play with anymore.
2. Dev Team still use easy way to develop game

- Nerf Job instead Improve other -
- More 16 ppl NM or BC with evilness drop rate - I want to play with friend more than random ppl on events, oh god i can't find any after abby. even VW on first stat we do with only 6 ppl may lose and win but it's fun with friend who care about how many death. But after that It become impossible to lowman so we stop bother with it. Each of us need to go catch random ppl VW. That is no more fun for me so i nv do it again.
- Make only Hardcore base

I love how ppl who play xiv will not admit that people who have played xi and has dealt with how bad SE's communication can be and how they fail to implement content, might just not want to deal with SE's MMOs anymore.

But only ppl who really love it will sugggest will complain how game must go on. So stop use easy ways say "If you not like it just stop play" It's always choice form start, just good player not choose until it's no more choice.

Please Dev Team, stop thinking this complain is just a ignorable idea. It's was reflex form ppl who love this game. not just play this game for a while for fun. One day if these ppl choose the last choice you will only have ppl who like to enjoy a bit in some time and can quit any time to replace them.

I'll just leave this here.

Well, My hubby and I have stopped payment, We are going out of town. But when we come back there is very little left for us to do.

We haven't played more then 5 days between LB 90 cap and LB 95 cap
Logged on got 95 LB items 1st day back.
Took 5 jobs from 90 to 95 in 2 day.
At that rate, I could likely finish getting all my jobs to 99 in a week maybe 2 tops after breaking cap.
Failed at 95 LB 2 times so far.. last try got NM to like 1-2% dia didn't kill it however.

All Missions done but WoTG only 10 or so then My hubby and I are done that too.
Only about 60 Quest pre 75 left to do then every quest in the game will be done.
Reason for getting God gear is to be able to do story with ease.
At level 95 all the 75 level story is already on easy mode. Post 75 no new stories added.

Current reason to get better gear is only to get better gear. Seem pointless without giving something to look forward too.



I recall taking 5 weeks of my static fighting Aht 44 missions before we finally got win...back with a 75 level cap.
I recall raising then raising Prishe and dieing a second later only to have Prishe finish fight with a wipe and get win.
I recall my 1st job at level 75 meaning something because it took time to do.
I recall So many thing that made me feel good and like I got something done, a pay off for my effort.

Now I just go threw the motions with nothing really to look forward to..

Things I would need to stay interested in FFXI, Another full expansions, honestly with Level caps, that can be done with 4 people casual players nothing to hard but not sol able. Max of one Battle field Mission per Conquest week with about 30 or so Battle field missions. And 3-4 Side quest to do on your own time or LS well waiting for Next conquest week, these side quest could be a CS, or gathering, or even a delivery quest. I would gladly pay $39.95 for this, and more importantly would keep me playing for another 30+ weeks.

No they don't. They are starting to feel the pain and when the reviewers of IGN and other game site and mags review 2.0 the first thing they will bring up is the 2 years of beta testing, then the sevrer merges and how they treat the other MMO they run. They are lossing ground every where for any FF title to not break a mil in its first weak is a bad sign. Sorry but they will listen either now or when people stop buying their crap on name alone.

my point is, they probably wont listen when people are cussing them out. everyone wants everything and they expect everything to be fixed over night. its just not going to happen. and people cussing them out is not going to help matters. after a while you just stop listen to bitching lol

for what it's worth... activision has not gotten 1 penny out of me since modern warfare 2. not ALL gamers are retarded lemmings. some of us DO vote with our dollars, so to speak.

I would love to know what % of XIV accounts will go inactive when they start charging for it. That begins on Jan 1st? Maybe that will be an eye opener for them. Honestly I don't wish failure on XIV. I just hate that they thought loyal XI fans would be muscled over to that title. Even if it had launched without any issues I had no intention of walking away from 8 years of hard labor on XI. So I could start from scratch just to get some fancy graphics? Not top on my list of wants. Give me some content, and storylines. A true challenge, and not some epic magian trial grind BS. An expansion with new zones, and a new open end game area like Sky/Sea without time constraint crap. That's all I need to be happy with XI.

Could XIV turn a profit at some point down the road? Possible. Am I willing to invest my free time into a product that choked, stuttered, and wheezed it's it's way out of the gate? A title that won't even live up to the hype of what it should have been opening day until XIV 2.0 rolls around in Dec 2012. In today's MMO market with ever increasing contention for MMO players to fill existing titles, with several monster titles on the way my decision is clear. No way.

Just such a shame that XI has to suffer when a modest investment into it's development would have kept it's user base content while keeping them open towards XIV, because they were happy. How can an error that blatant go unseen?

Really, FFXI's development started to die in late 2007 sadly.
