Ask a severely mentally ill man for five dollars. He will respond that aliens talk to him through his fillings and tell him to do things that he doesn't want to do but he does them sometimes because the aliens never stop telling him to do things.
Ask a severely mentally ill man not to cross the street under a "DO NOT WALK" sign during rush hour, entirely out of concern for his safety. He will respond that aliens talk to him through his fillings and tell him to do things that he doesn't want to do but he does them sometimes because the aliens never stop telling him to do things.
Sincerely asking for the Development Bros to do sensible things is very commendable, but it's probably better for a bro's blood pressure to just assume that sensible things only happen by chance.
Anyway, given the number of vegetables and stuff on the normal Cheese Sandwich, I think an upgraded one wouldn't be a grilled cheese exactly. It would be like this, except more cheese-forward:

Kind of like the really fancy kind of cheese sandwiches a roommate of mine made. He never grilled or cooked them at all, other than maybe toasting the bread. Half the stuff on them was smoked and just smelling them gave me a migraine.
Gonna lul when this makes a patch and SE declares the addition of something players asked for is proof positive that they're listening.
While, as a cook, I am of the opinion that any recipe involving grauberg lettuce needs to be an incredibly awesome food item (not because like lettuce, but rather because of the incredible annoyance it is to get the lettuce), rather than boosting that stats on the already existing cheese sandwich, as it is an odd creation, I would suggest this:
give us more than two types of cheese. Specifically, give us more cheese that isn't rock cheese, because "rock cheese" sounds so horribly unappetizing and does the wondrous dairy product very little justice. Giving us access to cheddar, Gouda, provolone, mozzarella, Colby, etc, etc, etc, would open such a wide range of creative and useful foods for us...
Be careful what you wish for lest we be tasked to gather Tiamat's tetemilk in order to create cheese for a sandwich with 10dex, 10att and -10sec on Mighty Strikes while engaging in areas with fire weather.
Amador, Dev team has just wasted god knows how much of their time making 10 out of those 14 meritable weaponskills. Asking them to buff up our beloved Cheese Sandwich has as much ground as asking them to unsuck Requiescat, Resolution, Realmrazer etc.
We could actually ask for this food to have a hidden effect of "Unsucks Merit Weaponskills".
Prothscar is petitioning to change this game for the better and I approve of that. Today we might fight for mere Cheese Sandwich's long-awaited adjustments, tomorrow the "PS2 Limitations" or even "Balance" might be gone. Who knows, this might be a first small step forward...
Also, please see my earlier post:
There is so much Cheese Sandwich could do for the better.
After reading through all these stellar posts, I too must throw in my support for a new tier (or maybe several) of cheese sandwich! I was -there- in 2007 when that one brave player suggested to the devs that adventurers everywhere be able to enjoy the classic treat, so I'd be remiss if I didn't chime in.
Make this happen devs, there hasn't been this much support for an idea in months!
I am also in favor of increasing the stat boosts granted by cheese sandwich, even if the recipie for it changes into something that's harder to craft. Alternatively, there could be implemented a "Super Cheese Sandwich" which grants superior stats, instead of changing the original dish.
As a Wisconsinite I must chime in to DEMAND the Uberfication of the cheese sandwich. Make it happen before the morbidly obese, brat and saurkraut filled, cheese-plugged lynch mob finds the Developer's offices!
Maybe the new variety of cheese sandwich could swap out some of it's ingredients for higher-end mats used in the elshenas and pitarus, and give a boost to all skillups along with something sort of off the wall, like +~5% haste that only counts towards your gear cap.
:| I hope you're all lactose intolerant irl.
I can only support the buffing of cheese sandwiches if Bacon is involved somehow.
Many (most, really) cheeses actually only have very slight trace amounts of lactose. This is because the fermentation process of cheese uses the lactose carbohydrate as fuel, and most cheeses are left with 0% carbohydrates in them.
One disorder that is sometimes confused with lactose intolerance, however, is milk allergy. This doesn't have anything to do with lactose, but is an allergy to the proteins found in milk, and by extention, milk-based products.
To the contrary! I often have a cup of Chocomilk

To stay on the topic, I've always thought this food to be too underwhelming:

Sooo much wasted potential...
I... but... Tiamat's not a... *twitch*
And now I find myself craving a Steakburger (No onions) with Fries and hot cheddar cheese sauce from Steak 'n Shake. I don't care how horrible it is for me, it's absolutely to delicious for me to care.
*drool*
Are you thinking of lactase? In that case, it's not correct I think. Lactase is the enzyme used by humans to break down the lactose we consume, not what lactose turns into. Lactose intolerant people don't have, or don't produce enough lactase. It can however be countered by taking lactase pills along with the meal.
Can you really be banned for voting on cheese sandwiches? Then I want the Chocolate Cake as my Prison food. I vote for the Cheese Sandwich upgraded.
While I am aware that many may be thinking we are not taking this seriously, I would like to not only take it seriously and offer my support, but also ask that this movement use the Cheese Sandwich as a flagship for other changes to foods. While I understand that not all foods are created equal, I must ask that there be some reconsideration of certain food effects based on the required ingredients.
I am sure that the developers have, in fact, put consideration into this, as most food does follow the 'expected rules' for stats given by ingredient. Even our Salmon Sub sandwich gives multiple stats on consumption. I ask merely for a reconsideration of our beloved food. It is close, as both bread and cheese give HP, and were the sandwich no more than bread and cheese, I suppose it would be correct (though we would still ask that it be elevated to greater heights).
There are not many of these and I (we?) know they are not of great importance to busy developers, but if you like, I am sure that a few dedicated culinarians could gather up a list.
My contribution. The Windurst Taco. Originally a simple taco version of the Windurst Salad, it served well for many jobs at low levels, granting MP in goodly amounts, and was relatively cheap. Now it requires Salsa, Wild Onions, and Hare meat, yet has no change in stats.
Please, SE, know that we are serious. This is Chalaimbille, after all, not some 'random hard cheese'. A high grade cheese made from some of the best milk. Even if one chooses to keep things in the realm of 'balance relative to cooking skill', we can at least get maybe an HP+8% out of it. There'd be times for using that, even if not many.
This petition has mah full support.
I'd like to see this topic as a "Hot Topic" for a year+ without any developer input/implementation.
Devs have better problems to fix then something insignificant like this. Its aggravated that they would take such a dumb idea and put it in the game in the first place, when stuff like class balance is all screwed up at the moment.
The player base is always talking about ways to improve job classes and content. What wrong with improving some of the food option as well?
Any chance the community reps meet with the Devs and the Devs ask what's being discussed on the forums?
"Well, there is this really persistent Cheese sandwich thread that won't go away...."
I'd rather have a Cheese Sandvich.
The Development Team will respond by making all of Vana'Diel violently lactose intolerant, and thus we'll suffer a 50 HP a tick poison effect after eating a Cheese Sandwich. Any attempt to eat a Cheese Sandwich +1 will result in instant death upon the first bite.
Cheese Sandwiches(+1) will also replace all logs and ores in both Voidwatch and Walk of Echoes.
Thank you for all your feedback. I have spoken with the Dev team and they have decided to cave to your demands. We will be increasing the duration of the cheese sandwich to 3 hours. However in the interest of balance we will be lowering the stats to +5hp -2 Agi and -10 Str.

I'll just leave this here~
