Using proxy game program reduce the lag to 0, is it legit or not?

hi guys, using program like battleping, wtfast, etc etc reduce the lag/lagspike to 0 if you set them correctly

this program fix the isp/ffxiv-Server problems
i know the 40% of the community is using these programs

    so i got 3 question:

are these programs legit or bannable?

    and

why i must pay another subscription for fix/play a game broken?

    and

for that reason i must pay the ffxiv subscription if they are unable to fix these problems?what is used for my money

It's legit, you can connect to the game through whatever IP you want.

Can't speak to the other stuff though.

SE can't force ISPs to fix their own crap unfortunately.. and that is where the problem lies. Best they can do is "encourage" ISPs that are having trouble to whitelist SE's servers. That is who you should be directing your complaints at.

The internet can suck sometimes. Nothing SE can do.

You cannot get a ping of zero, ever. There is an absolute minimum theoretical ping between any point from A to B based on distance the signal has to travel, and in practice, that ping is greatly increased by overheads (each node from you to the server increases the ping by just a little bit).

How you route the connection to the server is entirely up to you. This would be like asking "is it illegal to choose an internet provider that gives you a better ping"?

why i must pay another subscription for fix/play a game broken?
Square Enix has very little control over how your connection routes to their servers. The best they can do is place servers in more locations, but that has a significant cost attached to it. There are multiple aspects of "lag" issues, and the ping from you to them is only one, but it is the one that is most out of their control - they can't choose where you live, how you connect to the internet, how your ISP routes to their servers, etc. The proxy services provide a specific fix to a problem that only some people have - they source routes that are as fast as possible between a and b. If SE were to do this, they would have to charge a lot more for their subscription (they don't have as much bulk traffic as a service that offers proxies to multiple games).

Development and running of the game as it stands, and fixing of the network issues that they DO have control over?

It's like blaming the car manufacturer for your tyre getting damaged when you run over a pot-hole. Sure, there are some elements of that damage that may be related to the quality of the tyre manufacture, but most of the fault lies in the fact that the road has potholes, and you chose to drive down that street. Had you used a GPS that could have found a good route for you, you might not have run over that pothole.

because the game isn't broken and you can play well without. else, you can just don't pay.

Because internet isn't magic, and battleping isn't a wizard. He just force a route with less passages, and his performance wary based on the game and location. Depending on these two the results can vary

Then it's the ISP's fault? Maybe you should check this thread: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...%28Petition%29

What I consider "crap" is the fact that SE placed the EU servers in CANADA. Sorry, I can't blame on my ISp for that...

Yes, in many cases it IS the ISPs fault. I get around 160ms to the NA/EU servers. I'm in Colorado. My ISP has crap for peering so to get to the servers I get routed all the way to California, then back up and over to Montreal. This is not something the ISP will change for you either, because they do it to save themselves money. Many people won't see this issue, and many will. Before someone says "get another ISP" you don't always have that choice, and even if you do, the choice isn't really a choice. The only other decent provider here is wireless, and that is horrid to play games on, a light rain and your connection dies.

There's no such thing as a 0 ping short of Sitting in front of and playing directly connected to the server itself (and even that still wouldnt really be no latency) With that said, the programs to reroute your hops are not harming SE's servers either. Worst case scenario in these cases is that they ban the IP's from being able to connect, this is usually only ever done with certain games in the cases of say tons of BR's connecting to an american server that would normally be blocked by BR IP's if they have a BR server

Being that FFXIV is an international game they likely don't care.
