Casual and relaxed FC "Vagabond Knights" [VK] looking for mature and nice players

    Hello all!

I started playing mmorpgs a little over 10 years ago and back then I played them like the job I didn't have yet at that age. There were strict event schedules, you had to play the class that was needed and you were expected to commit and make personal sacrifices for the good of your guildmates and the raid (though raiding worked a bit different back in those days).

A lot of people play like this today, and there is nothing wrong with that. But for me personally, I've grown out of it.

I do have a job now in RL, I have a family that I commit and make personal sacrifices for. I still enjoy games, but I play them for fun, not for achievements of any kind. May they be gear, popularity or ingame fame.

When I log into FF:ARR I just want to enjoy what I believe is the best MMORPG for my playstyle and have fun with some nice, likeminded people.

That's why I created this Free Company, that's all there is to it really.

If that sounds appealing to you, I'd be delighted to get in touch. You can find our website at:

    http://vagabondknights.enjin.com

    As for some details:

At the very core of our Free Company is enjoying this game together in a stress free and friendly environment. We all like to enjoy everything FFXIV has to offer without the pressure and elitist attitude a lot of progression FCs have but also avoid the lack of familiarity and teamwork that plagues most of the "invite anything that moves" FCs.

There are two things that all of us have in common, and those two things I (and the others as well) are looking for in an applicant.

    1. We like to do things together. No matter if it's just running dungeons, or chatting about indian cuisine, we like to be social and we like to be friends. If you are not looking for that, we are probably not the right FC for you.

    2. We like to enjoy the game without stress, drama or being told when and how to play. No member will ever be told by me or any officer to level a certain class/job for a raid, to be available for certain times or to play their characters in any specific way. In return we ask you to respect the other members RL responsibilities and choices just as much as you'd like your own respected.

One thing that needs to be mentioned here because it goes hand in hand with being social and being friends is bad language in Chat or character name.

We are by no means a Roleplaying FC or require lore-appropriate character names, but there are limits to what we are comfortable with.

The majority of our members are rather... old, to put it mildly. Old people do not like slang, leetspeak, offensive language or things that are just base tasteless.

    Funny?... We like that.
Silly?... np, go ahead and name your character "Strawberry Pie" if you fancy.

But if your name comes straight out of Lord of the Rings or Game of Thrones or I need to look it up in the Urban Dictionary to figure out what it means, we are probably not going to get along all that well.
The same applies if you are using leetspeak or inappropriate language in chat on a regular basis.

I know this is rather intolerant and not all that fair either, but it's how me and a good deal of our members feel, so I'd rather be a douche here than have people feel uncomfortable in the FC. That goes both both for our members who are too old fashioned to get along with someone having an iapproriate name or misbehaving in chat, as well as the offender feeling isolated and shunned. No one benefits in this scenario on either side of the fence.

Everything else is minor details and sorts itself out. Neither I nor anyone else really cares what class you play, which country you're from, what level you are and weather you play on PC or PS3. As long as those two rules are as important to you as they are to us, you'll always be welcome here.

If you're still with me after reading that, let me give you some brief information about the state of the Free Company.

As the game has been out for a while now most of our members have accumulated around lvl 40-50. There is still a good few people at lower levels and off-classes being levelled, but the majority of our players have shifted towards the later stages of the game.

We do have a core of about 40 active members who play regularly, leaving us with about 25 people online during EU peak hours and 5-10 during main NA and AUS peak time.

Our activities are a happy mix of endgame stuff (We're working on killing titan hardmode with a pure FC group, have a hand full of people who already got past titan and everything before titan is pretty much easy "farming". We don't do coil yet but probably will when more of the FC are ready for it.), but we also do any of the pre-50 dungeons if anyone needs them and have a good few social events set up (e.g. a monthly FC picture, chocobo races, hide and seek, a quizz run, etc).

All of the content we do, including the endgame stuff, is done casually without much stress and no set schedules people are forced to attend to. It is fun and easygoing, but as a result also a lot slower than in a progression FC.

Most of our members come from all across europe, with the odd australian and american. In european time we're most busy in the evenings with a good few members online in the afternoon and usually only a few in the mornings. Weekends are busy throughout the day. Most of our events are taking place around 8 pm GMT+0.

We are having a ventrilo server, but joining is optional. We mainly use it for tough primal fights, and occasionally for just chatting.

We also initiated a mentoring system to supply new members with someone to help them settle in, or give advice and help with actual gameplay, should it be desired.

If that all is fine with you, you can either leave a message here, on our recruitment forum or contact me or any officer ingame. That would be Darius Greyleaf, Nikki Spencer, Kimiko Kaneko (NA), Rose Quartz, Asher Freeman, Surpanaka Verloren (often on at odd hours), Kerin Kor, Flare Corona, Seki Ryuu, Yonah Lunarsong

I wouldn't mind giving this a try, here's a link to a thread I made looking for a FC. I'll try to catch you online at some point.

Hello Scarlet, and thanks for being interested.

We do fit you in the sense that we want to do things in a casual and fun manner.

I like to raid and do engame dungeons as well, always enjoyed that and always will. What I'm tired of is the commitments and sacrifices a progression raiding guild requires, not the raiding itself.

In the last games I was playing before ARR launched, I was in guilds that did casual raiding. One or two days of the week where most people would be able to play were set, if you were interested, you signed up, and people were just doing the raids as far as they got with the people they had. No one was pressured to play, or to level a more efficient class.

Judging from your other thread I think this approach would suit you very well.

There is just one thing that could be a problem for you, and I seriously am not offended if it is.

As much as I like the people we already got in the FC (i really mean that, this is not just some hollow advertisement, I really like the members we recruited so far), most of them are still levelling up, myself included. We have one guy at around 45+, the rest is all in their 20's to 30's.

Not to mention that we don't have that many members anyway.

I know you're already 50 with your WHM, and in all honesty, I do not think we can offer you much in terms of engame activities. That will change in time, but until then, it may be a bit lonely at the lvl 50 front.

If you don't mind waiting for the rest of us, you're sure welcome to join and have some fun while levelling your scholar/summoner, but if you are looking for a FC to raid with soonish, I'm afraid we're not ready for that yet.

Anyway, I'll see if I can get in touch with you ingame. it's more comfortable chatting directly rather than posting on a forum.

    Hi there

You sound like just the free company I am interested in and I would love to join if you'll have me. I also used to play mmorpg's for hours and hours but now too have a family, so my gaming time is mainly weekends with the occasional evening during the week.

I would be looking for a nice relaxed group of friendly people to chat to and play with, without the pressure and stress of doing everything absolutely perfectly - after all, the point of all this is fun and to have a wonderful journey! I've never really been one for serious dungeon play or raiding but this game has me wanting to play some dungeons and learn without being shouted at for firing a wrong skill or watching a cutscene.

Please feel free to contact me if you see me online or about in game, you sound like a great group

    D'akota.

Darius, I'll look for you in game. My partner and I raided for many years doing hard mode progression in a number of games, him as a raid leader, me a heal class leader. We've come to FFXIV as just a place to relax and chill out and meet nice people. We're australian, so apart from weekends I don't know how well our GMT +10 will fit in. We are polite, educated and looking for no fuss, no drama, just people to do stuff with. I don't care if it is hard mode progression, or taking alt classes through a lowbie dungeon, I'm just in it for the social outlet. We're both around level 20 on our main classes, I'm on Conj and I think he's a lancer but looking to switch to a tanking class as a main class. If you'd have us I think we'd be a great fit.

This sounds like an ideal home for myself. I'm loving the game so far, would love to meet some new like-minded folk to adventure with!

I prefer to take things at a relaxed pace, without the melodrama or elitism that tends to plague gaming these days

Hope to speak to you in game!

    Hello D'akota, Bel and Zanil!

I think all three of you will fit in nicely and I will keep an eye out for you ingame, so we can chat and I can answer any further questions you may have.

In fact I was already looking for you Bel, because you were searching for a FC in the other thread, but I never got hold of you ingame. If you're australian, that explains why .

Most of our members are from centeral europe (we actually have a good few people from the UK) and play in GMT+0 or GMT+1. The big things (raids, meetings) will probably be organised on the weekend, that should not be a problem for you to participate. The small things thoughout the week though... that will likely happen while you're sound asleep or working hard to put bread on the table.

Even though most of our members are european, that doesn't mean that no one will be online at all when you play. I am in a shiftworking household (I'm a chef, my wife a nurse) and believe it or not, I used to join australian guilds in MMORPGs when I was still working 6 days/week because I could only play late morning/early afternoon.

Anyway, I have to work tonight, but from tomorrow on, I will see if I can find the three of you ingame, so we can talk a bit. If you don't want to wait that long and don't have any questions for me, you can also keep an eye out for "Asher Freeman". He has officer priviledges and can invite you. Be easy on him though, he's new to all of this and you probably have to explain to him how to invite someone

    Hi Darius,

I am the other half that comes with the Bel package

Your FC sounds like a good fit and like several other folks posting here, we have kids and jobs.

I'll keep an eye out for you and Asher in game.

Hi, I'm looking for just the type of place you're describing so I'd like to join your ranks if you'll have me. I've played quite a few other mmos (wow, aion, gw2 etc) and quite like raiding/instances with a party, one of the reasons I stopped wow was that the community I was a part of there fell apart and so I'm now looking to settle here with a relaxed and friendly group of people.
I also have a family and so my playing time is a former shadow of what it once was but I can usually manage some time each evening and one of the days at the weekend. I do appreciate organised time (planned raids/events/weekend stuff) as it's much easier for me to set aside a few hours if its at a definite time, other than that I'm looking for a friendly group to share and contribute to questing / instances and general chat

Hope to hear from you in game (on most week night evenings post 20:00 gmt)
