I tried the things you guys were talking about, jumping when a spell is at 50%, but it stopped milliseconds later. So yea, things are all smooth and refined for me.

im surprised you are only going on about spell latency. that doesnt matter. what matters is laggy aoe. there is a lot of it and its really starting to piss me off. so much so you have to literally cheat and anticipate encounter aoes by constantly running in advance. reactionary dodging is nigh on impossible or just lotery.
a lot of people have this i would say most of them do. just look at the forums
fix this
Razzgrizz I agree that is also a huge problem. I only mention the spell latency foremost because it is very, very easy to test/see how bad it is. Server lag affects everything, from spells to aoe's to UI responsiveness to targeting.
Plagen: Just made a THM on the farie server to try it out, the server lag is definitely there as well. Casting a spell and jumping with about 10% remaining and the spell nearly always casts anyway. This translates into at least a 250ms (and probably in the 300-400ms) range server lag. Also asked a few people close by to try it out, and they all reported the same thing.
I suppose it is possible that a few people somehow aren't affected by this, but the majority on all servers seem like they are, including Farie server.
The main problem is they didn't properly prepare for the amount of people that we have on each server and Yoshida refuses to dumb down graphics... If 14 emulated 11 we would be able to reduce or turn off spells of other PCs and monsters, turn off all shadows (not just sprites shadows) and set priority(load and constant visuals of) to all sprites not the environmentand, and reduce visual distance. He's too hell bent on keeping up the environment that everything else suffers. Don't forget the hunderds of people farming Fates which causes sprites (even if they are right next to you) to vanish. At least on the Gilgamesh server (and I've heard this is true for all NA/EU servers), regardless of your ISP or internet connection or PC specs, there is a large amount of server lag. This manifests itself in many annoying ways, but the easiest way to see it is to simply cast a spell and jump with about 50 remaining on the timer. More often than not, the spell completes anyway. This translates into 500ms of server latency which is pretty terrible. Even half that amount is bad.
Is SE aware of this issue? Is it something they are working on? Right now the game feels sluggish and unresponsive due to this, even on the very best PC on the very best connection.

This is a major problem. I have died 3 times today just from mob's effects that didn't show up on my screen for a few seconds till it was done. I check on other games and no latency issues at all. I have been able to run by mobs in fates and shoot them and keep shooting them as I run by (facing the completely wrong direction) and only after about 3 actions does it make me turn around.im surprised you are only going on about spell latency. that doesnt matter. what matters is laggy aoe. there is a lot of it and its really starting to piss me off. so much so you have to literally cheat and anticipate encounter aoes by constantly running in advance. reactionary dodging is nigh on impossible or just lotery.

Just looking to relax and have fun.
I see so many claims since beta yet not a single video showing that, could you fraps it and post it here since other wise I might as well call bs on that.
Mean while there have been a lot of delay videos so yeah.
Again show me ARR responding like this, but we both know you don't have that.I tried the things you guys were talking about, jumping when a spell is at 50%, but it stopped milliseconds later. So yea, things are all smooth and refined for me.

Sneakaboo I'm not sure what your video was supposed to show, but both SWTOR and WOW in that video respond about 1000% better than FFXIV. Maybe that was your point, if so yeah, they really need to get to work on their servers or netcode or whatever.
On Ragnarok, I'm frequently getting small lag hiccups (2-3 seconds) in normal play, slightly more often during crowded fates.
It's actually much, much worse in Duty Finder instances. I'm constantly getting 5-10 second hang ups. And as a healer, that makes I'm frequently giving my tanks minor panic attacks.
This is the only game I'm having any sort of connection issues with.
When I read the forums back in beta and now people keep claiming the game responds perfectly.
Like this poster here.
I'm very curious to see a video like I linked with ARR since I keep seeing a large amount of posters claiming it's there.jumping when a spell is at 50%, but it stopped milliseconds later.
So naturally when I see people doing this, I link it and ask them to post a video.
They can't be all trolls neither can you miss this delay.
That and I'm really curious to see a video where ARR responds like that.
Doesn't matter if it is Japanese or w/e .
