This sorta thing has always been a huge problem with dealing too much damage to be fair. I would say it should have some kind of accuracy penalty so you get good regular DPS and awesome spike DPS
Edit: Talking about the 2handed greatswords

I think for me personally I would like to see Summoner as well, call the beings aeon's, GF's or whatever you like. The animation and shear size of the beasts bring a sence of wonder to the game that I enjoyed. I am also an old school FF fan. I enjoy seeing the old jobs re-invented in new ways on the newer versions of FF, Red mage, warrior, black mage, white mage, Thief, monk. We already see one or 2 of these on a re-invented way (pugilist, gladiator and maurader). I just think the jobs just need to see a little more uniqueness in gear and weaponskills etc. I also really loved Paladin from FFXI. I've still yet to enbrace the new armory system in FFXIV, that could possible be because I was very used to the "Job class" system in FFXI.
Blue Mage and Summoner
Corsair and Samurai ftw!!!
Classes I would love to see in this order that I would think would give a nice feel to FFXIV which I don't particularly think should be exact replicas of FFXI but should just have a resemblance to in general role/tactics, but what I miss the most is mainly the specific feel you get when using their weapons or the way their armor looks that really defines these classes apart from merely remaking them from the pool of actions currently in FFXIV (which still for the most part lacks the true defining skills of making these classes). Also, I don't have any FF experience previous to titles before FFX or handheld platform titles so my knowledge of of all FF classes is very limited.
1. Blue Mage (sword + shield/learn actions from mobs/melee and magic both attack and defense jack-of-all-trades actions) perhaps make exclusives for this class since it would generally cover a broad range of skills
2. Samurai (great katana/TP acquiring or boosting actions/viable tank and dps actions)
3. Ninja (dual wield katana/accuracy + evasion actions/ninjutsu actions/viable dps and evasion tank actions)
4. Bard (instrument/buff actions/debuff actions/crowd control actions)
5. Corsair (gun/buff actions/ranged dps actions/ranged magic dps actions with TP cost)
6. Dragoon (spear or 1 handed spear + shield perhaps?/wyvern pet that uses actions when you do or having an action to have your wyvern use a random or specific action/viable tank actions if paired with shield and dps actions)
7. Scholar (wand + shield or staff/elemental buff and debuff actions/enmity buff and debuff actions/spell manipulation buff actions/various jack-of-all-trades spell actions)
8. Red Mage (sword and shield/spell buff actions/spell debuff actions/specific spells combining white and black magic or neutral spell actions) the main difference between Red Mage and Thaumaturge would be that RDM is mainly buffs while THM is mainly debuffs
9. Summoner (avatar pets each with specific actions related to the avatar)
10. Arcanist (I have no true concept of what this class can do other than what I assume would be magic) some form of magical tank be interesting I think
11. Musketeer (dual pistol or rifle?/ranged dps/I have no idea what else) perhaps SE plans this to be very similar to Corsair
12. Fencer (rapier and shield/I assume evasion and accuracy buff actions/viable evasion tank and viable dps actions)
Now I know 1-9 is pooled from FFXI and uses some of the same weapons that are already bound by current classes in FFXIV and I'm not sure how that would fit in the current situation unless SE just didn't mind them using similar weapons like CON and THM or if SE would have branches fill out to these classes like advanced classes IF these classes were to be implemented into FFXIV. Now I also know that SE already has an Arcanist and a Musketeer guild in Limsa Lominsa so I'm sure SE has plans to release these when ready, but I also encountered a few beastmen with the class of Fencer (at least it was part of their name anyway). So I expect to see 10-12 but I hope to see 1-9 implemented in some form as well.
I believe the most interesting form of creating a class would be have something like Gladiator 10, Thaumaturge 10, and Conjurer 10 unlocks the use of the class Red Mage or Blue Mage, something like this. Now the way I would have the game in these sense is to give an option in the main menu when equipping a sword w/ or w/o a shield that allows you to become a Red Mage or Blue Mage from a Gladiator which would be the default class for equipping a sword. Which could have Red Mage or Blue Mage be leveled form Lv. 1 or sart out at Lv. 10 (or could be higher and require higher prerequisites) and gain actions in the same fashion along with having base stats changed to reflect these classes traditionally which would be a jack-of-all-trades stat base rather than pure magic or pure defense base stats.
Another interesting path in this sense would to change the base stats in the same way but not allow acquiring new skills but instead progress in levels of 1 class of your choice of the prerequisite/default weapon (which should be allowed to use any GLA/THM/CON weapon in this case and have the option to change to Red Mage/Blue Mage) or to progress in all 3 classes evenly at 1/3 the SP rate but for all 3 classes.
Another option entirely is to have class specializations such Gladiator can evolve into Paladin or Dark Knight, Conjurer can evolve into White Mage or Black Mage, and Thaumaturge can evolve into Scholar or Red Mage. In my personal opinion CON would be better suited to go into Scholar, but this gives 2 classes for each to evolve into (which if implemented SE could add more than 2 specializations or even allow some specializations to be shared or have minor differences).
This thread gives a much better explanation and goes into full detail of my last option.

Paladin
A Real One
Seriously
kthxbai
Ninja uses a katana and the second sword is a wakishashi.
I havent read all 20 pages so sorry if this has been said.
I think Summons are going to be called Primals but could be wrong.
Its from FFII, i believe a lot of ffxiv is based on ffii.
I cant remember if it was mentioned in main story quest or not.
