If you bought the game through amazon, go to your Games and Software Library (order history and then click on Go to Your Games and Software Library).
It will be the "Activation Key".

Mortis it sounds like your friend may have registered service to another account. Does he have two active accounts and the one with early access now inactive?

He is playing with his account, the account was registered for the beta, had the early access, and has the 30 days, he was playing the full game with the early access, but the early access ended and he lost his character, he can play in the 30 days service but with no character, he has to start all over again, is there a way to get back his early access character to his 30 days service? Your friend should post a support ticket.
