NVidia frame rate issue (changes mid-game)

I’m running an NVidia GTX680 on Windows 7 64-bit at 2560x1440 at maximum settings. When I first start playing I am getting a consistent frame rate of 59 to 60. After some length of time 30-60 minutes… the screen will go black for about 10 seconds and then when the picture returns I am getting a frame rate of 8 or 9. I can bump my rate by dropping the graphics settings to “laptop standard” for around 30fps, but obviously I would prefer not to do this. If I log out and get back in, back to max settings and 60fps.

Anyone else run into this? I am updating my NVidia drivers later today, but not sure if that will fix the issue. Just throwing this out in case someone else has already solved it.

    Many thanks!

It is an Intel i7-3770K quad core running at a standard 3.5GHz. Also have 16GB of RAM. Like I said things run fine for a bit and then it appears something (vcard, CPU, game) throttles back.

I suggest you to test the method that i explain in this thread :

    http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...sh-BSOD-issues

Clean uninstall fo your actual driver with Display Driver Uninstaller -> tech Driver 326.84 for your graphic card and Last version of Physx Driver.

It fix same issue for me.

i say reload ur video drivers and do a reinstall of all drivers. try windows update. clean ur catch. scan for malware. or cleaning ur pc from dust etc can help too. im running i5- 3770k 3.4~3.8 GHz. 8gb ram and NVidia GTX650 TI super clock on Windows 8 Pro 64-bit at 1920x1080P at maximum settings on 89.1 FPS. i get no lag or none and my frames are always high. if u get a problem still after all that try unplug ur GPU and put it back in. or frames are unlocked.

Thanks for the help! I updated my NVidia driver and had no issues last night... Great news! One questions Sourpuss... one of the options in configuration is to cap framerate at 60. Do you have that selected? Not sure why you would do that, but it seems to be the default.

Thanks again all... Enjoying the world in its full glory now!
