Thanks Aramil for making a logical post. I understand a lot of the things I wish for are selfish. As a consumer in the video game market I just feel a little left out so I feel like if I can make a difference by throwing my opinion out there I'll do it.

My head is becoming a little muddled from typing so much and thinking too much. I'd try and discuss what really isn't a problem and what is and how to fix it but all these other posts have made me a little flustered. I think I'll back out now and leave the discussion for the rest of you.

I hope at least I am heard and that's all I was aiming for.

If Square Enix doesn't, I'm stuck with a very low number of MMORPGs to play and all of them outdated.
SE said from day 1 that ffxiv will be casual friendly and less time consuming. Those games are also outdatesd fir a reason. Am i happy about that? tbh not really. But i also though back to my first days of ffxi and how i wasn't having much fun. I just want a fun game. I also want it to get in new players daily.

I posted about your point in a past thread you msde typing the same thing out. Sorry but I think I had enough of the elitist mindset. Elitist do not make games fun, they make it work.

my point. I secretely agree with you.
BUT i know what will be the greater good of ffxiv.
ppl do not want a game like Ultima online or everquest. They want games like World of warcraft. I personaly HATE what mmo are becoming. But I have the white flag up as to say I just want a fun game. A game where we get newbies in daily. And ffxi couldn't do it. It only had 3 sub booms. ps2 launch pc launch 360 launch. after WoW the rate of newbie players decreased to about 1 a mnth from my personal experience.
Hech even DCUO got highly praised and that game is easy mode with more issues then ffxiv. Yet no one talks about them.
the same reviews who said ffxiv is copy/pasted did not say the same to DCUO, and it has the worst copy pasting.

    I support the OP 100%.
These new changes and content indicate no inspiration and direction, and the players they're focusing on right now are a poor choice. Where are we going? Nothing unexpected happens because that makes certain players angry and frustrated. There are no surprises. Everything new has become a mod of something that already exists because that's the standard and standard is 8/10. Instead of beating expectations with content we didn't expect to see voluntarily, we have to drag them kicking and screaming just to get something done half-right.

And as far as the kind of players SE seems to be catering to, I agree again. That demographic simply has skills issues. They're underdeveloped players. They will leave you as soon as WoW beckons them back.
MP regen is now out of control, placing mage content at about the fifth grade level. It is not even remotely interesting to play a mage any more. Good players have become overqualified for these entry-level jobs.
Agro icons pander to bad players who need to improve their own skills instead of again rendering ours overqualified in a junior-level game.

The game is becoming more and more attuned to the inattentive, lazy players who couldn't complete the Limsa opening cutscene without being told what to do by a fairy godmother.

My advice to Square Enix is to forget the players who constantly struggle with simple things. We and they can only coexist if you just keep telling them to get better and pay more attention. We can't dumb ourselves down for their kind of product.

Yes, there are a lot of them. But their game is never going to be good.

They're 100 WoWs, if you want a casual game then go play one of those. There is only one FFXI. I think we want some more variety just like WoW has. Thats not being selfish at all. In fact all you casual players are the selfish people. There are tons of casual games out there. Go play those. I for one like hardcore games, and I know some of you do as well. Square enix is one of those companies that satisfies my tastes, and they are putting to much pepper on this sandwich. Soo, stop saying hurp durp, and leave if you don't have something intellectual to say.

    What's april 19th?
If you're waiting for something in patch 1.17, you're pretty much suiciding by cop. It's going to be a bust.

More reasonable make or break point would be the new battle system, and then the PVE content that follows shortly thereafter. If they can make battles and raids fun, that proves they have what it takes to fix the classes they're fought with.

If they bumble those, I'll vote no confidence at that point. I'll probably take an extended break until they ask for a subscription, then make the final decision at that time.
