Except that they aren't boxers, they're loan sharks who are involved in martial arts. I believe they are involved with gambling and psychic readings or something, been a while since I did the quests.Another vote for the FF:T idea. And if the combat was more FF:T like in general, that'd be cool.
You can't just make a pugilist into a monk with a name change. The guild is a boxing gym that's practically part of an arena with a ticketing office. Wouldn't they have to make a whole new guild anyway? And wouldn't it be a temple off in the middle of nowhere or something? I wouldn't mind if they called it "Boxer" instead though.
Boxers should have stances...what happened to that?
1) Boxing stance - good for evading, counter punching, stunning
2) In-fighting stance - Dempsy roll! You square up close and do damage, but you're still moving in and out and left and right.
3) puncher's stance - you're just going to get in there and do damage. Getting back out to avoid damage? Forget it.
That's the basic rock-paper-scissors of real, basic boxing styles btw. Boxer beats puncher. In-fighter beats boxer. Puncher beats in-fighter.
Point being, there should be no difficulty making the pugilist/boxer class be unique from monk. The real sport/style has plenty of lore and is unique enough to fill up an action bar.
