Question for DEV Servers in ARR?

I don't know if it been answer already but I cannot find any evidence on these. There is only less than two weeks left on the game before must people leave and wait for 2.0. It is been confirm we are getting regional servers. So these are my questions to the Devs.

Does SE has a list of what Server is going where?
Must of my friends including me would like to be in a NA server, It would be really disapointing to log in at launch of ARR and be in a EU or JP server. Plus it would be nice to have the list to discuss with friends what NA everyone would like to move to.

It is been confirm that SE will have new server for new characters only. Why has SE not provided any information on how or even when currently players that have been tag along with Final Fantasy all these time can move to a local server?

It is going to be hard to try to coordinate with friends on the server or servers that would like to play together after november and must of the people won't be online.

Does SE even have a plan for the current player base at launch of ARR?

The current servers aren't changing. No current server is going anywhere. New servers will be added in each region. Unfortunately, it was officially stated that current players would not be able to immediately move to these servers- they would be open for new character creation only at launch.

That is what I would like to SE to confirm. If the current servers stay in JP, OK I can try to deal with that since SE already confirm that they will not going to allow current players to move to the new servers. But if SE is actually going to move some of the current servers to other location and make a even worst lag for current players that have stick with XIV all these time is just wrong.

Then we have Ragnarok that is probably going to be move to EU and not stay in Japan. They will enjoy the lag free world and the rest of us just have to deal with the same. That is why it would be nice of SE before everyones leave after November 1 to give us a heads up of how things are going to work.

If the Devs confirm that current servers will stay in Japan and current players will not be allow to move at the start, so be it and we can deal with that. But if some time later they say: We decided to make a current base player server for each region where current players can move so they can play without lag. Then how in the world you going to get in contact with everyone. Stay or leave, loss friends or stay closed to best friends? Oh look I stay in the server and have of the NA players left.

That is all I ask, having some type of confirmation good or bad before November 1.

I am currently on Excalibur.

If Excalibur remains in Japan, they will most likely allow me to change to an "Existing World" (in name only) that has been relocated to NA.

I believe that at launch all the servers are still going to be in Japan and then the new Servers will be different names.....

IF they would do the route of saying this server goes to NA... then they would either shut that server down for like a week or 2...

OR... DO a Save Maintenance on the game, then go and set up new servers in NA, then in the course of a day or so... (depending on Internet Speed).... Transfer ALL Game Data over to the NA office....

All this sounds so time pressed other then just setting up the new servers in NA and then just making it available for new Character Creation only for the first few months so the Economy can be properly built.


Also People should not freak out because I am sure the Latency of the Servers should not be as bad as they are now in 1.0...

I want to switch on an EU server at release. It will be really stupid if current player can't switch on server in their region.

But i can expect everything from SE :S

Dude... you totally missed what the Community Team said... They already answered this question...

They Said at launch there will not be ANY World Transfer right at launch....

They said that if characters that wish to transfer to a new Server at launch then they would have to make a new character on that new server...

Region Servers included....

I have a bit of follow up information in regards to world selection when A Realm Reborn begins.

For those of you that have friends that are not currently playing and you would like them to play with you, rest easy knowing that new players will be able to select the existing worlds instead of the newly created worlds. However, in the case that there is a large amount of people who come back to the game and the world reaches it population cap, the regular rules will apply and there is a possibility that we will suspend new character creation on these worlds.

Also, for current players, it will be possible to create a new character on the new worlds. However, existing players will not be able to move to these new worlds for a certain period of time.

Sorry, to clarify, our post is specifically answering a question about users wanting to change after they've chosen new servers. We're not saying existing players will remain on current servers until a time that is designated for people to move.

Well, your headache is about to get worse after I try to explain what I think is going to happen. (Obviously we need Dev/Rep clarification but I'm going to speculate some more anyway.)

New Servers is not the same as New Worlds.

We are all getting "New Servers". The 1.0 servers were crap. SE bought brand new servers with a different structure to host the 2.0 game. They are shutting down the 1.0 servers in order to transfer all our character data over to the New Servers. After the transfer is complete they may bring the old servers back online for peeps that still want to play till the New Servers go Live.

We are not all getting "New Worlds". The New Worlds are reserved for New Players at time of launch (we may be allowed to transfer later). These New Worlds will have New Names (different from what we currently have).

The "Existing Worlds" (Excalibur, Balmung, Gungnir, etc.) will be on New Servers but (here is the highly speculative part), some of them will be located in NA, EU or JP (probably based on current player ratios/%'s).

I couldn't find it but I remember Yoshi said that when we log into the new client, we will have the option to choose an "Existing World" located in our region however, I think they have walked this back and we may have to wait "a short time" untill they determine how many "existing accounts" return to the game at launch.

I do recognize the one major flaw in my argument in that for this to work they would either have to transfer our character data to each Existing World ahead of time or we would have to wait untill our transfer is "approved" to be able to log in.

I'm sorry for the long, rambling post (now I have a headache) so I'll just shut up now and wait for a clarified Official Response.
