While I agree with you on most things this price different between a 9070XT and a 5070 Ti is way more than $100 Canadian, I was able to get my 9070XT for $800 and change when the cheapest 5070 Ti was $1300+

and While you are right for XIV EXCLUSIVELY the 5070Ti dominates the 9070 XT and I wish I could have afforded the 5070 Ti since I saved up for years for it... but then Nvidia is scummy, OEM's are scummy and trump is scummy.

All we need is to complain to SE and AMD to fix whatever the issue is with the 9070 XT and it'll be on par with the 5070 Ti for rasterization performance since in other games it's equal sometimes worse but also sometimes better than.

Compared to my now 6 year old 2080 Ti, the 5070 Ti gives me an ~86% performance uplift whereas the 9070 XT gives me a ~39% uplift.

In addition to that, the 5070 Ti gets me a much more compelling feature set than the AMD card. (DLSS, better ray tracing, RTX HDR, multi-framegen)
The feature set the 5070 Ti offers by itself is enough to justify the €100 premium for me. And to make matters worse, even the cheaper 5070 performs better than the 9070 XT in FFXIV.

Like I said, if FFXIV is your main game and you're looking to upgrade, the 9070 XT is simply a bad deal.

    I don't quite believe you.

As far as I know, a 6800 XT is about on par with a 7800 XT and the Gamers Nexus benchmark shows that the 7800 XT only gets around 121 FPS at 1440p when paired with a 9800x3D at maximum settings.

So either you're lying, or you're not maxing out your game.

Your point's are nearly valid, as others have pointed out already, the price difference is way more than £100 pretty much worldwide but even still, you're right that the 9070 XT still appears to under perform (not generally vs the 5070 Ti, but rather) specifically in FFXIV and no other game.

That said, given the absolutely INSANE prices of ANY new gen GPUs right now, I'd argue, as I decided to buy, that right now, at the writing of this post, unironically, the best value card is the 7900 XTX. Assuming of course that you can get it at MSRP or cheaper (got mines at £799) and that, like me, you don't care about ray tracing too much and pretty much don't care about fake AI frames at all. If you match this description and are looking for a new GPU in April 2025, buy a 7900 XTX. You're basically getting 5080 raster performance for half or less of the same price and no fake AI slop.

P.S. And assuming you magically DO find an MSRP 9070 XT, you should still be able to fix FF performance with extra tweaking as per previous posts in this thread, assuming of course, you can be asked and at least until/if someone fixes the drivers or FF issue.

PLease dont tell ppl such things if you clearly have no clue what all the metrics really mean and how they really perform ingame. The 9070XT is for its price a valid option even for 4k, but yeah if you have infinite money just buy NVIDIA.
The price of Nvidia card and amd card is not that different atm .so you might take off your amd fanboi hat

its not a big deal anymore, nvidia slowly abandoning gaming users, only focusing on AI stuff users, who have more money.

and ye, 9070 is the reason why 5070Ti costs ~1000$ instead of 1500$, so I better hold my hat

The actual AMD drivers are screwed for this game. On my rig, which handles the game in 4k without any issues (normally), there is a massive fps los, when using the actual drivers. The ingame fps meter barely drops down to the 80s during visible fps drops but it feels sloppy like 20fps. With Vsync on it's simply unplayable. In the past, i used an older version of the driver to get rid of it. But since (for whatever reason) Windows is auto updating the drivers every few weeks (even when i turned anything off for auto updates), i gave up and deal with it. The problem occurs only in the borderless window mode. In Full Screen everything works smooth.

    Shamelessly quoting myself...

I found a solution for the problem above. Disabling Freesync and enabling "Enhanced Sync" for FFXIV in the Radeon Software works like a charm. Even in Borderless Window Mode.

So it was indeed an async issue.

maybe it's an async issue ? Causing % lows to be terrible, you could look into it with a monitoring tool and log 10 and 1 % lows.
This is more accurate than pure fps or average fps alone.

I've taken the cheapest of both cards today. The 9070 XT was slightly more expensive yesterday (around €810), but even then the difference is around €170. So, slightly higher than the €150 high number I quoted but not "way more", and definitely not worth choosing the 9070 XT over the 5070 Ti if FFXIV is your main game.

Edit: The cheaper 9070 XT is already completely sold out again, and today's cheapest available card is €824 while the cheapest 5070 Ti remains unchanged, lowering the price difference to €125 again.
So, like I said, the difference isn't that much at all and certainly doesn't require infinite money.

    Vs.

That's fair, but I do care about RT and the feature set Nvidia offers over the 7900 XTX. Seeing how the 7900 XTX is around the same price as a 5070 Ti I'd rather get the latter instead.

I suspected that. Any driver since the 23.11 update broke something for ffxiv in this case.
