    Random 90002 Disconnects

    Hello!

Ever since DT launch, I've been getting hit with random disconnects with the 90002 error despite my internet being fine. This would happen even when the servers are fine. After I disconnect, I would be to log back in immediately as if nothing has happened and as I was typing it happened again. Normally, it would happen once every two days, but it has happened three times already.

I play on PC, on wifi (I've tried both 5 GHz band/2.4 GHz band, etc), non-steam. I've seen other users reported the same issue with no idea as to what the cause may be even with different ISPs and region.

I'm still having the same issue where I get a random 90002 error and I get kicked out only to still see the internet still working on my other screen and I'm able to log back in immediately only after my character has properly logged out. Is anyone experiencing a similar issue?

    Same

I was about to come here and ask the exact same thing. I have been enduring it ever since DT launch. I have never had a connection problem with FF14 before now. I'm east coast usa, not sure if the location matters at all.

I asked in a frontlines match if anyone else was having these disconnects. (I load into pvp very slow, like 1 player at a time after DT launch will pop in showing more connection weirdness between me and the rest of the frontline). They said it had something to do with my graphics card? I didn't quite understand the connection the other players were trying to make between GPU and networking issues... but that's the only input I have had form other players about it.

ETA: They were implying because DT introduced a graphical update, people with older GPU's like me will be dealing with lag now for ~reasons~

Have had FC mates struggling with this same issue. Yet SE refuses to acknowledge there is an issue. They will get kicked randomly, log back in to infinite loading screens, get kicked again. 3-4 times in a row, actions take 5+ seconds to respond, they see people rubber banding on screen, they see other people disconnecting so its not just them. We had two people DC during an EX today and had to drop. People everywhere are talking about how bad the lag is. Even if they aren't DCing, there have been lag spikes that are crazy. Either the DDoS they said have been recovered from are NOT recovered from, or something else is going on. Because these peoples internet are otherwise fine. Its becoming unplayable, SE. DO SOMETHING.

Are you using a VPN? no
Are you using a wired or wireless connection? wired
What Platform are you using? (Steam/Windows/Mac/PS4 etc.) all effected persons are using Windows, no Steam.
Does the issue occur with one character or multiple characters? considering its numerous people, its multiple characters.
At what point do you get disconnected and/or are unable to connect? usually after 10pm EST but it can be earlier as well.
How often does the issue occur? Every day.

    Internet Service Provider: various.
Region/State: various. from California, to the midwest, to New York, to Canada.
All steps taken to resolve the issue: restarting computer, rebooting internet modem and routers, having ISP technicians out to the homes to check connection (No issues found). Tried using a VPN.

The hardware these people use varies as well, from Intel i5-12th gen and 3060s, to Ryzen 7000 series with 4090s, to gaming laptops with 4000 series Nvidia graphics. It isn't limited to older CPUs or GPUs, or laptops or desktops. All have at least 16GB of RAM. All have SSDs. Everything else runs perfectly. It's JUST FFXIV failing. They can crash in this and then load up another online game and be fine, or another AAA title and be great.

Good morning! Thank you for posting in the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

The issue you are describing is most associated with interference with game data. Many actions can trigger this error, such as a slow internet connection, certain security/privacy changes on the default Internet browser, an application running in the background causing interference, use of a VPN or an odd connection (EG: schools or cafes), a possible virus detected on the device, many rapid payments at once, and numerous other actions.

We advise clearing the cache/cookies/browsing data from your default web browser, disabling any web browser extensions (EG: ad-blocker) and trying again. We also suggest resetting the connection (router/modem) you are using to connect to the Internet before trying again.

Open the control panel of the PC and go to ‘Network and Internet’. Once there select ‘Internet Options’
    - Under the "General" tab, please delete ALL browser history.
    - Under the "Security" tab, please move the slider to the lowest possible settings or no higher than "Medium"
    - Under the "Privacy" tab, click “Advanced” and select ‘Accept’ under both First Party and Third Party Cookies.
    - Under the "Advanced" tab, please make sure that "Allow software to run or install even if signature is invalid" is CHECKED.
    - Make sure that all SSL and TLS (EXCEPT SSL 3.0) are CHECKED. [SSL 3.0 should be UNCHECKED]
    - Hit "Apply" to save the settings, and then "OK, to close the Internet Options menu.
    - Right-Click on the FFXIV launcher icon and select "Properties"
    - Hit "Apply", then "OK" to save the changes.
    - Please RESTART your PC now. Once your PC has been restarted, Right-Click the FFXIV launcher icon once more and select "Run as Administrator"
*Make sure your fire wall or antivirus program is not interfering with the game

Lastly, check to see if the following port ranges are opened on your router. You can contact your ISP and request they open them for you:
    ▼TCP
    54992 through 54994,
    55006 through 55007,
    55021 through 55040

Try disabling background applications and do a clean boot by opening the task manager and selecting the “Start up” tab. Disable everything and then restart the PC.
Lastly, we suggest to power cycle the console and router by shutting down the Router and leaving the power supply unplugged for 5-10 minutes.

Sorry to say but this didn't work. This is getting very agitating, and I don't seem to be getting any closer to a solution. I don't understand why this game is the only game that is giving me grief when it comes to connection stability.
