The thing with software development is if your 'release' causes a bunch of people to now start having the same issue, you fix the software, not tell your users to fix their hardware.

I've had this issue starting about 2 weeks ago. 1-5 times a day, my game will freeze (audio still playing, chrome videos still playing, discord call still connected) for usually a few seconds, then come back. Sometimes the freeze leads to a full disconnect, about 10% of the time. To others, during a freeze I appear to be disconnecting (pokeball). Nothing about the freezes are consistent. I could be doing nothing in the background, I could be opening chrome, I could just be chilling at my housing plot, in a dungeon, crafting, anything. GPU sometimes spikes to 100% or drops to 0% usage, sometimes doesn't. They could be hours apart, or minutes apart. There are no errors in event viewer, ever. It is incredibly annoying. This is happening to 2 other members in my static as well after the recent hotfix. I have reinstalled the game on a different drive. I have done troubleshooting on hardware, and tried the fixes I saw some people post. I played Dawntrail early access with no issues. No other games (ESO, Wuwa, Hoyo games, BDO) give me any issues, not even any frame drops. I'm worried it will happen during savage prog.

Yea in a similar vein to this I've had freezes since a bit after Dawntrail, seemingly completely randomly it freezes for ~30 or so seconds, friends in Discord with me just see it happening via the same disconnecting symbol, I had assumed it might be related to player actions breaking, but even in an isolated instanced area without me acting it has happened, the more concerning times though being mid-instance, especially if I'm a healer in a dungeon I can just freeze and come back to the entire party dead because 2/3 things happen without me being able to do anything to help. It's severe enough an issue I can't confidently play healer/tank without constantly worrying it'll happen even when it can just not happen for 2 days straight and then the next day happen 3 times in 30 minutes. The single time it outright crashed it gave no errors and just closesd and every other time it just resumes after the freeze seeming completely fine.
The only consistent thing about its effects being that CPU drops to ~2% usage, GPU drops to 0% usage and RAM usage drops off a cliff to abnormally low amounts, usually to <150 MB usage, compared to the 600-900 the game runs at normally and then after resuming jumps back up to 300-400 before steadily climbing to normal values. Since Dawntrail the game also starts at like 2.5-3 GB usage but is freed up to the normal 600-900 after some seemingly arbitrary period of time, these freezes however can happen even before that initial drop but in such events it still drops heavily, but not to the extreme low levels

I've tried updating drivers and seeing if other changes like adjusting resolution and changing from borderless to windowed did anything but no adjustments have seemed to make any difference and I'm hesitant to try reinstalling the game since every instance of others who seem to have this issue it has seemed as though it does nothing to help

Freezing and unfreezing can also be an indicator for overheating or defective Harddisk/SSD. Look into the Windows Event Log. Maybe there are some entries.

You people really need to stop trying to give card board cut out cut and paste answers and pay attention to all of the threads and posts having this same issue. It is not helping at all.
There are many threads about this very same issue and it all started with 7.0.
If you do not have any actually information stop wasting people's time.

Could you post your computer specs as much as possible? I want to see if people having this issue have anything in common. CPU, GPU, memory, motherboard maker/chipset, how many monitors you have, refresh rate, any other devices etc.

While uncertain on how to check my memory/motherboard offhand, CPU should be Intel Core i7-4770 3.4 GHz, GPU NVIDIA Quadro M2000, 2 monitors being Compaq S1922 Wide LCD Monitor and DELL E1910H, the game (both when I was doing windowed and borderless) is always only on the compaq monitor and capped at 60 FPS with both of the monitors refresh rates in windows' settings being displayed as 59.790 hz

As an addition edited in while not spec related the mention of always having the memory usage drop proved itself untrue immediately after I had posted such as the freeze happened again without such, so may've just been a fluke every other time I had actually checked

It's not copy and paste. If the game would have some issues then everyone would be affected. I never had a single crash with 7.x and i play a lot. So the game itself is OKish.

And there are some common reasons why the game can crash: overclocking, bad/old drivers, bad/old BIOS, Intel 13th/14th-gen CPUs, an old PSU, overheating etc. Those reasons i would figure out first.

The issue is that it's a very specific problem that only affects FFXIV.
The game completely freezes up for ~30 seconds, yet you can still alt tab and do other stuff.
If you tab back in, the game is still frozen until those 30 seconds are up like it's running out a timer.

Only FFXIV has this issue. I can run every stress test possible on my computer or play other games that require better hardware for hours on end without issue.

So it's obviously something wrong with FFXIV itself. Either in the programming for certain hardware setups, or just in the way it interacts with Windows itself.

Trying to blame it on other things, or asking the people complaining to try "fixes" that no other program requires, just makes those people annoyed.

I love being gaslit in a technical support forum... the game isn't interacting with something properly. While this isn't necessarily the games fault, it's helpful if we find the common denominator amongst those effected. My temps are nothing out of the ordinary and haven't increased between pre-Dawntrail and now. I played the entire duration of early access just fine. After the hotfix, it was no longer fine. It is the only program effected. No other games, nothing else on the computer at all even so much as hiccups when a freeze in ffxiv is happening.

It's like blaming people for the audio freezes that happen when you change audio devices... Everyone knows its a thing, but it only effects some people... so is it not valid because it doesn't effect you personally? Nobody asked if yours was working lol
