Sure, in a nutshell the Overwatch 2 Ranked currency system works like this:
  • Get a small amount of points for wins (10) and draws (5) regardless of rank. Unlockable in question is 3000 points.
  • Unsure if it is still in Overwatch but would suggest it anyhow for FFXIV - a bunch more points for end-of-season tier reward
    (i.e. more points if you are in Crystal > Diamond > Platinum > etc., like with Trophy Crystals now, could always give a bonus to Top 100/30/1)
  • Gold Weapons are always available, Emerald/Jade weapons are the year 2024/2025 reward. For FFXIV purporses would drop the latter for now since we don't have Ranked Top 100 rewards to cycle through anymore (sadly)

Basically, it incentivizes you to keep playing and winning, it incentivizes you to score high - but at the same time it will NOT lock you eternally out if you do not score high, so even a Gold, Silver or Bronze player can eventually reach something.

This is "actual" ranked currency, not the meme we call Trophy Crystals (lol) or Commendation Crystals (why is it Diamond+ only, not a wolf collar replacement).

To add to this post, why not a proper Ranked currency rather than Trophy Crystals / Wolfmarks? If anything lower-rank Ranked PvP could use the incentive over using the casual currencies (Trophy Crystal shop really needs a viable sink and the old Battlepass items though, for real now). Would also probably be easier to stomach for those who have fought for it.
