I think PLD became a complete job at 1.22b (or .a? whichever one had the most recent PLD buffs), it's just taken the playerbase a while to realize it. I know that my linkshell in particular didn't do extensive enough testing after the buffs and just stuck to what we knew for far too long.

Congratulations to everyone getting their relics.

Those saying latency issues don't/never exsisted must not have seen this thread http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...-Network-Delay

It was even worse for me, going into the fight and a few seconds later Red latency and completely unable to move or act. This wouldn't even disconnect me, I would just stay Red 0's for most of the fight, If everyone isn't dead already including me. If/when network data did start moving again, Ifrit would end up freakin invisible and untargetable! I didn't find that acceptible on a 55mbit connection. I know some other people back before I took a break that had the same issue I did. And when it wasn't totally unplayable, being hit by plumes and eruptions that you clearly dodged did not help the situation. My whole team had the skill, but latency killed us all, not Ifrit.

Maybe those with no issue are using battleping or similar service or lives in/very close to Japan. idk. I recently started using battleping myself, paying an extra monthly/tri-monthly fee for comfortable latency. Maybe next time I try Ifrit hard, He wont be given as great a latency handicap from me. Maybe even so with 2.0, since the servers are suposedly going to be way better than the current ones. Maybe everyone that was stricken with latency issues, which does play a big role in success and fail in this fight, will go in and roflstomp it 100% of the time.

Uh, I never see anyone say latency issues don't/never existed, people beat Ifrit (hard) back and forth bearing latency issue

what you stated with the thread probably ISP routing issue. Again, what people said is, its not relevant how close/far you from SE server to WIN primal fights, latency is exist, but its not stopping people to beat Ifrit...CMIIW

Sure latency exists, as said you can never have a ping of <1 to this game no matter where you are, but there is a clear difference in having a ping of ~50 to having a ping of ~2000 or no data flow at all when doing these fights. And there are some peoples whos comments lead towards "It doesn't exist"

I'm just sayin tho. Its wrong to dismiss latency as a cause for failure and call anyone who is effected by it a baddy like some have here, because it often is.

Maybe you joined the game late...but it's common knowledge only people who sucked at fighting Ifrit blamed latency on absolutely every mistake they made.

Yes latency problems exists, even for the japanese.

No it will not affect your performance.

Yes it varies from person to person.

No you can't blame latency because you get pelted by seer or eruptions you were "100 feet away from and still got hit."

No one dismisses latency problems, however most people used it as an excuse all of early 2011 as to why they could never kill Ifrit.

No, you don't need to live close to Japan or in Japan to have "less problems."

Yes everyone I've killed ifrit with lived in America, Canada, Australia, Japan, Korea and even Africa.

If someone got killed by something they moved out of 3 seconds later, its probably not because they are bad. If my whole team died because I couldn't use any enmity generating skills and lost agro because i was sitting at Red 0 latency, thats probably not my fault either.

Maybe it was just a 6 months ago issue and it really isn't that prevalent anymore with some kind of hotfix or something. I've yet to test.

Not your fault, sounds more like your ISP having routing issues to SE, or else everyone who plays FFXIV would have the same problem.

SE even stated that the main problem is routing issues from some ISPs, especially within Europe. Main point is though, it's silly to blame latency in this day and age in regards to Ifrit, which is why some people will flatout dismiss it because it was an old excuse from people who did suck at the fight.

Can it be a problem? Sure if you have bad enough connection to SE it can be, but in general? Not to the point it will make or break your battle.
