That may be the intent of normal forums but the XIV forums are 90% titanmen talking with himself and some people joining in.This is a forum. The intent of a forum is that everyone uses the same spaces and comments on what other people say, or we're all just talking into the void.
The person who complains about everything is not a hypothetical – they were here, complaining about everything at every opportunity, starting thread after thread and inserting their opinion into everyone else's discussions. You could not simply ignore it, and you certainly didn't need to be "chasing them through multiple threads" to repeatedly encounter them or (even if you blocked them) people arguing with them so you'd see it all anyway.
It's not just about "not being positive enough" in their personal opinion, but the constant insistence that they are right and the game is objectively wrong, and the players who like it how it is are also wrong and dragging the game down. It's constantly berating people for being here trying to enjoy a thing in the space designated for talking about it.
The average person who doesn't like a thing doesn't need to be "gatekept" out of a forum for fans of the thing, because they will have already kept themself away because they're not a fan and don't want to spend their time discussing a thing they are not a fan of.
So you admit you cant make an argument without distorting, twisting and fabricating what was said, have admitted you cant be honest and accurate in what you say and who / how you quote people. This made my day. Thank you.
Thanks for clearing that up.
lol
I literally quoted a strawman white knight argument for a signature and you agreed with it. And now you're so hung up on me telling you that that makes you a white knight. You've literally been butthurt for 8 months.
https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/...3A#post6114155They don’t owe us ANYTHING. The sub for this game is cheaper than Netflix. Yoshida pours his blood, sweat and tears into this game and we pay pennies in exchange. I think we should be grateful that we’re getting anything at all. This isn’t Blizzard that we’re talking about here, this is Square Enix. They’re doing what they can with the small amount of resources that they have

I had forgotten about this gem, thank you

Yes, yes, we get it. You don't like each other. Stop hijacking OP's thread to express it, please.
EDIT: In fact, maybe go meditate or something.

Silly rabbit.
As much as I'd like to NOT blame the regular forum goers... They're responsible for a large part of the forums being the way they are.I don't think that's the reason. Even when the forum was less chaotic than it is at present this place was still largely ignored with community representatives posting to introduce themselves and then never showing up again.
I made a thread requesting more engagement, as can be found here:
https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/...epresentatives
This place, despite its flaws, really isn't anywhere near as bad as the likes of reddit or twitter when it comes to voicing feedback. Especially the latter, where it's all too easy to scroll down the comments to official posts and see some highly inappropriate commentary and images or get viciously attacked over simple personal tastes.
Any issues related to chaos due to a lack of moderation is absolutely not the fault of regular forum goers.
Anyone who comes here as a fresh forum member will quickly learn that they can expect to be insulted, and ridiculed for giving open honest feedback on what they like, or dislike about the game. You hardly see anyone stepping in to defend them. So the forum goers we want will just go to twitter, and reddit instead, leaving us with a lot of pitiful people who can do little more than throw bitter insults around, engage with people in bad faith, and are generally incapable of providing any intelligent, or coherent arguements for what they believe. That's not a good first impression, and to outsiders this forum would not be worth investing resources into. So, we sit here, shouting into a useless void that we ourselves are partially responsible for.
If you ask me, it's 50/50 blame on both the community who fostered this toxic attitude for years on the forums, and Square Enix for their complete lack of interest in keeping the forums a productive place to discuss the game, and leave them useful feedback.
The solution? Moderation needs to come in here, reinforce the rules, and sweep frequent offenders straight into the rubbish bin. Then I'd love for there to be more engagement between developers/representitives, in an atmosphere where people won't have to deal with the bitterness that has taken root in these forums. But for now that's a fever dream.
I wouldn't be shocked if it gets brought up at some event where people can ask questions. Maybe if there is a huge spotlight posted right on the forums they would be forced to act and start doing moderation.
Either that or maybe there is yet another video on the OF drama around here.
Till then...we mod it ourselves with how we choose to respond. Or not respond. I choose to not respond to things.
