You make an interesting point here that I think hits the pulse that I'm starting to see across many different forum posts of many different topics.

I really hope the Devs are paying attention to how much they're trying to simplify things, because it is indeed running into those pitfalls that you mentioned, and the folks who have posted here are far from the first that I've heard vocalizing concern that the game is....well, less interesting or rewarding.
