You are free and welcome to think that. But it would be nice if you didn't constantly try to invalidate others' opinion about it all the time.
The devs said to give feedback after trying the changes and we have all tried the changes and are giving feedback.
Not much else can be said that hasn't already, but we don't want them to think we're complacent by going quiet after the initial buzz, so here we are.
If you really have a problem with people posting, you can just as easily not engage with it. It's as simple as that.
Nope. Not used to it at all. It feels so foreign I'm actively watching my hotbar to make sure I do the new play correctly. Whenever I stop focusing on my hotbar I find out I'm overflowing with kenki or I end up letting my cooldowns drift incorrectly.Hey all.
One question for you guys - Are you "used to it" by now? How the job plays currently? Because that has been sprinkled here and there as an argument to keep the changes. Because people have already adjusted to these changes, "It's impossible to return to 6.08".
Personally speaking...don't be ridiculous. How in the world did you get "used to it" when the changes were first put in? Are you saying people are incapable of adjusting back to what we once had? Rather, this is a mindset of one who feels inconvenienced and nothing more regarding the job.
On another note, Meditate has been brought up as being hard to utilize in it's fullest, especially in Ultimate. People argue that the reward is nonexistent, more so now that we lost all meaning in the Kenki gauge.
While I can play it just fine enough, that doesn't mean I like it.
Is it satisfying to play correctly to my existing kit? Kind of, but normally that isn't something I used to think about. I used to be "don't think, feeeeeeel" kinda player since I was so used to the flow. Now that it's changed even slightly, I look only at the finger and miss out on all that cosmic glory.
I'm not used to it, class has been garbage since the changes. Everytime I see my 'big hits' doing 30k damage I'm reminded of their failure with the 6.1 patch. Is this sentiment occurring on the JP forums? I have not seen it here, aside from the occassional troll saying 'it's fine' and unironically bumping these threads for more exposure.Hey all.

For any new, uninitiated people, Vencio is a troll. Ignore or mock him as you like.
Nope, not "used to it" at all. Putting aside the visceral disgust and boring nature, I still take SAM into some "typical" content at least once a week, out of some misbegotten desire to give these changes another chance. Some weird belief that maybe now I'll understand the true meaning behind who changed my favorite DPS job and why.Hey all.

The answer is always the same; it's shit. It's boring. There's no thought anymore, no sense of satisfaction from performing things correctly, no rush when you see a big meaty number pop up (because there are no more big meaty numbers, just sidegrades to Kasha and Gekko). I still hit the hotkey for Kaiten on occasion, although the frequency is down now. Shinten/Kyuten are just boring buttons to press on their own. Without the context that Kaiten provided the use of Shinten/Kyuten now just seems hollow, like I'm going through the motions.
I can't help but feel like the job is headed for a major re-vamp. Taking everything that's been said in the context with the decisions made against SAM I either have to conclude that SAM is going to be drastically re-designed at some point in the relatively near future OR that the job balance dev(s) responsible for the state of 6.1 SAM is/are lazy and/or incompetent. I've said it before that these changes feel like some rookie dev error, like some greenhorn looked at a bunch of spreadsheets and decided that the right course of action was to give us 6.1 SAM. No consideration for the fun, no consideration for the state of long-time SAM players, just trash decision-making and results all around.
Neither look is a good one. I'm sure I come off as harsh and I won't deny it, but it can't be as harsh as kneecapping a job mid-xpac for the promise of "something better eventually." I have no idea how Yoshi P. came to the conclusion that he should OK these changes but as I've also said before, my once rock-solid faith is now shaken.
I moved recently. Finally out of an apartment into a house. Unpacking a few things that had been in storage for some time I came across something of a gem in the form of my FF14 1.0 CE, complete with the leather bound travel journal tucked away inside. I haven't touched that thing in years. I remember stuffing the box away in some corner of my closet after I quit 1.0 in disgust a mere 6 weeks into retail because of how fucking terrible that game was. I remember being absolutely baffled by the decisions made by the SE devs in 1.0. I am similarly baffled by the decisions made with SAM in 6.1 and I know I'm not alone. Twelve willing, the ripple effect of this will have some positive knock-on effects for other jobs too, particularly healers and tanks.
The majority of players on the JP forums do seem to think the changes were bad. They are, as a whole, much more diplomatic about it, sometimes providing some kind of "out" for the devs in the form of a compromise that attempts to address the stated concerns the devs have (button bloat, damage variance) while still retaining the feel and fun of 6.0 SAM. But even beyond that many of the people who make these compromise suggestions do so from a place that speaks highly of the 6.08 SAM experience, with more than a few suggesting that a 6.08 reversion is the way to go, and many others stating that if a reversion is not possible then there absolutely needs to be developers sitting down with the community to explain the reasoning and decision-making process that brought us to where we are today.I'm not used to it, class has been garbage since the changes. I highly recommend checking things out for yourself. Use DeepL translator and just copy/paste to your hearts content:
https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/forums/551-DPS
Search the forums for the thread titled 侍スレ using your in-browser search function. Direct linking here from there gets a little fucky sometimes but a quick text search takes care of things.
Here's the DeepL translation of one of the more energetic responders to the thread who's also a new forum poster it seems, from the Masamune server:
Personally I think the first three sentences say it all; bring back 6.08 cause current SAM is boring and fixed criticals suck.I want it back to 6.08 specs.
Fixed criticals!!!! (fucking huge low damage!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) The current Samurai is really boring!
I can't put anything in the pad because it's overflowing! I'm sure there are some useful features in the UI. There are some useful functions!
I think that in the future, when more skills are added or overwritten, the single and range will be unified, so I don't think it's necessary to do this now.
Simplification without any alternative elements will only reduce operations and make the game more boring.
I would like to see you do something about the shinten samurai who have returned to the hot bar by removing the kaiten, which are not even overflowing from the hot bar, and the setsugetsuka and nagiri, which have had the weight of a single blow removed from them, as soon as possible.
I am spending my days very frustrated wondering when you will explain this problem.
Samurai Labu. Kashiko
Oh, I totally forgot to add my experience. Tried it out of boredom again, felt like I was going to fall asleep while I was playing it. Thought about trolling my ultimate group one day by bringing it in, but don't really want to put up with playing it for more than 5 minutes and don't want to waste their time leaving just to swap to something else. "A slower and less-fun monk", would be how I'd describe samurai right now. And I don't have a whole lot of fun on monk either. They need to revert the changes and do a proper rework if the 6.08 iteration is such a huge problem, or start talking about what they're doing to fix the class ASAP. The radio silence isn't helping, not even a justification for the changes that people don't like. The proof is in the class representation, and it's massively down from what it was in the previous patch.Hey all.
