Why does it except the first word but not the second word?

Basically, it's designed to work that way. From Patch 1.22 Notes:

· Search results will show all items that start with the entered term.

and also can it be adjusted to except the second word as well?. I think it would be helpful if the second word worked when inputted, thus yielding all the same types of items we're looking for. .

You're suggesting a change on a function related to Item Search feature, so this is not the best forum for you to be heard. I may suggest moving your proposal on to Gameplay: Markets and Retainers forum.
