Thanks for the suggestion, but it didn't help. Back to the drawing board.
I actually went in and did this and it worked... sort of. After cleaning registry with CCCleaner I was able to play in DX11! Sound was still a mess but otherwise worked fine. Unfortunately when I close the game it goes back to being broken... thus- every time i log out I run the registry repair to get back into the game.
I don't know computer stuff, but it seems like there is an issue with the game changing or breaking something when it boots up since I have to repair every time I log out?
Not a fix, but seems to be a bandaid until we can get some sort of help from SE.
This is no longer working.

Chiming in that I, too, am having Directx11 issues. This only started after patch 6.01 installed. Never had an issue before. I am currently just playing in Directx9. I have updated drivers and windows, and as I read forums it seems there is no actual fix. Just random whether it a fix helps permanently, temporarily, or not at all.
Note the game will load, with no sound, if I don't click the "OK" box in the error dialog box.

Post in here with your System Information from the FF14 client launcher (click cog wheel). And check out what others have done so far and provide feedback. I'm trying to get a mega thread going.
I was getting crashes at least once a day on my main rig after EW update with the window but haven't had any since turning off Windows Game Mode and Xbox Game Bar. Hasn't been long enough to be definitive but so far so good.
