    FC owning 12 plots

I'm on Crystal - Coeurl server
Was looking for a plot to purchase for my FC (me and 8 friends) and I noticed on the Gridania plots, ward 12 I think. There was an FC that owned 12 plots and they all have 1 member in it, all the same person (assuming cause they all have the same last name)

When I checked online about it, the FFXIV site on housing said 1 plot per FC and you must have 4 members in it. Is this a loop hole since they made seperate FC's but named them all the same. just all have 1 member in it and fc's at least lvl 6.

I'm just confused and want to know if this is fine???
just thinking it's unfair for others.

If memory serves me right, this rule of 1 plot per FC is more or less recent.

Before that, a FC could buy without real limit, after the change they left these FCs alone for the reason that they obtained these plots before the rule change.

I still find it silly because they could give back the money but whatever, wouldn’t fix much anyway with all the problems the housing system has between supply, RMT dealers and phantom FCs.

You can own up to 8 FCs on one account.
It's not a loophole, you can report to the GM and check for yourself.
That person who owns them currently has multiple accounts.
Also they bought FC houses from other players way above the placard price.

Not really no. In 4.2 (January 2018) a rule change came in that restricted FC and personal houses to 1 house of each per account per world.

However a week later SE quietly removed the FC restriction. The housing mini site has never been updated to reflect this, nor have they even mentioned this ever again.

So basically at end of January/start of February 2018 where was a restriction on how many FC houses an account could have (1), but apart from that very short time, it's been completely unrestricted. Any standard account can create 8 characters on a world and create/level 8 FCs and buy a house for each of them. The only requirements are the FC is rank 6 or higher and at the point of purchase there are at least 4 members.

I used to know someone that bought up houses using alts, leveling those FC's and then selling those with large profits.
How it worked, you joined his FC... donated money to the vault.. he took it out and then made you leader of that FC. BAM house sold without an effort. And these house sellers have bots/scripts/macro's to get priority on getting the houses.

A lottery may fix this true, but it would not take care of the housing shortage since demand is much higher now that a lot of WoW players came over. And I doubt many of them will go back to WoW in the long run.
On cerberus there is an FC that owns 6 plots right next to eachother while many people can't even get a hold of a house... this is a joke and I fear the lottery is SE's way to combat this behavior but I fear that in the process they seem to forget that this still does not solve the problem... it only improves the issue a little bit when there are fixes out there that will improve the issue much better, if not stop it entirely.
Which is why the better option would be to think of alternatives and hope SE reads it and cares.

I must admit... when I played this game for a few years I was so convinced gil sellers actually worked for SE since SE was oddly allowing certain behavior and not doing anything about it.
Made me wonder if maybe they didn't stop it cuss they too benefit from it. However I realize that they may have just "underestimated" the behavior by not keeping in mind they end up ruining the fun for everyone, resulting in a lot of players not resubbing.
They are actually losing money cuss of that behavior. So I hope that SE does what it needs which is revamp the entire housing idea into something gil & housing sellers can no longer benefit from (in the greedy sense).

There has been a topic on going about this for a while now and I have even added my opinion. I hope you'll all do the same so SE will know we take it serious and so should they.

The lottery is being put in place only because SE doesn't want player's to HAVE to click a placard for hours and hours. We don't have enough information at this point on how it's going to work exactly. Plus, the lottery is being installed on SOME wards not all of them. There will still be wards that are first come first served.

When it comes to the players that are grandfathered. Before any rule was implemented or housing became popular these players spent millions of gil in a totally legal way. SE is not going to take away something from a player if they followed the rules at the time they obtained it. You may not like it, it may not be fair with the amount of supply. But if i spent that much time and gil buying and decorating and it was taken away from me because someone else felt entitled to it, then I would be pissed.

The lottery is a band-aid and a bad one at that because the odds of you getting a housing will be even lower. Best of luck.

While I would be fine with banning them (as the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the one and that would also free up a lot of housing for everyone else), too many here are going to defend that practice to the death.

They are not going to do that.

I've always hated that phrase because I would bet that the majority that invoke it would flip their stance if the shoe was on the other foot. How many of the people asking to ban/punish those that have been grandfathered legitly would demolish their other houses "for the many".

Ok, please explain why it is acceptable to have more than one personal house or a shell FC house?
