New Gear... for class only? [Glaring Issue] [Request]

Not sure if there was a post about the new gear/weapons. But why on earth are they Class related only?

The way I justified it (and this took a lot of effort to justify) was that SE wants players who have classes ranked up. but not jobs, to have gear. This would typically be intended for newer players I assume. Though I could see players using THM instead of BLM, I have a hard time visioning players choosing GLD/MRD/LNC/ARC over their respective jobs.

The fact of the matter is, though, that if SE intended for the new gear to be used by new players there is a glaring hole in this justification: the gear will be much too expensive for new players to buy. Coke costing 100k, and the rarity of the materials forces crafters to charge several million to break even for their efforts. How do new players compensate for this?

I frankly find the new gear to be very useful. The stats are pretty solid, and being meldable helps their case more. But the fact that they are class only renders them almost useless. I would like to know if people agree, and if so, will SE consider changing it so Jobs can utilize the new gear.

I concur. I've yet to find a situation where my class is more beneficial than my jobs for soloing, even more so due to the fact that my Darklight gear is job only. Even then, I find it easier to play the jobs than I do the classes.

The fact this gear that entices us to play classes and is arguably more expensive and difficult to obtain than Darklight (which only requires a solid group and a bit of luck) just doesn't seem right.

I'm not saying I want to see this stuff easier to obtain, but I want it to be useful like the OP has said. Even if I had this gear, I don't think I'd want to play my classes over my jobs in 95% of situations.

    I don't Job solo anymore.
I realised I'm much more balanced outside of it.

Arguably nothing. You can get this stuff solo and a lot more quickly than darklight - and it's meldable. It's fine for what it is and should continue to be restricted to classes.

I have found PGL is alot easier to solo with than MNK because I can use cure and protect (also eva seems better) in the imperial invasion I survived alot faster on PGL than MNK because I could heal myself alot better. I am fine with new weapons being class only, and we will be getting AF weapons for jobs in 1.22a/b.

Another reason it would be nice for jobs to have the gear, is so not everyone looks identical. It would allow for some personal customization!

With everything being instanced, who even solos?

Not this thread again... I'm just going to copy/paste one of my responses.

Job: Better when working with a Full Party
    Class: Solo/light party

Doesn't mean soloing on a job is pointless or can't be done, but it will be more challenging than on a class(less safety nets). You can also join a full party as a Class and still run through content, but you sacrifice damage for those safety nets you may or may not need.

Most of us that are left are hardcore fans of Final Fantasy(either from the offline series or FFXI). We have a greater connection with the classics then these new punks that Tanaka brought in(MRD, THM, GLA, etc). I think most of us are happier with being a dragoon than being called a lancer. If Lancer received all the changes without the Dragoon title, I think people would still be screaming for jobs.

However, that doesn't mean the entire 2.0 playerbase will hold on to these jobs as much as we do. The weapon/armor allows classes to still be used, as jobs advance, without being completely pushed to the side.

    Classes =/= solo only

Classes can be used successfully in a party just as a job.

With this said, it wasn’t their intention to try and change battle balance or force any particular type of play style because of the implementation of class-specific equipment.

To address the question about "Why are these types of items in the new recipes when they were removed in a previous patch?" The reason why nuggets were removed from recipes alongside the recipe adjustments was due to the fact that many low-level recipes had multiple steps in their recipe making them overly complex. It wasn't meant to be taken that they would never be used again in the future.

As we stated previously, the below is the plan for new recipes:
-Low level: No multi-step materials, easy to craft
-High level: Multi-step materials, high difficulty

The recipes added this time were high-level ones.
