Housing Suggestions

.I see a ton of request and complains regarding the housing dilemma, but not much suggestion for possible solutions.

two heads better than one, so instead of just asking the devs to fix things or make them better why don't we try to pool our singular brain cell? who knows an we might come up with an ingenious solution or something that could inspire one for the developers.

as mentioned above i wish for this tread to be about suggestions and not complaints.
that said we are not developers, so it doesn't mean that we have a sound idea that it can be implemented or have the positive effect we intend, keep in mind we are suggesting not commanding

btw this is my first tread so if i got something wrong, help

so my two cents worth regarding the housing

-first the neighborhoods, i think the reason behind placing all the housing in a single spot is to form a community for likeminded individuals, this is similar to the mist island where the pvp enthusiast are consolidated to a single area to form an in game community
(then again i don't know the coding or technical reasoning behind this)

now the problem with neighborhoods is the location, as there are limited number of cities
i think there is a free real estate that could house a few more neighborhoods outside of the cities, mainly speaking the friendly beast tribes
this housing could be unlocked via level of reputation, at trusted lv.4 you gain access to the base neighborhood while at sworn lv.7 you get access to the base and top neighborhood locations
and purchased via beast tribe housing currency, no i don't mean the current tribe currency as there will be people with a major head start if we do that
i suggest making a separate housing currency at the implementation of this change to make it a somewhat more even race
and yes i think beast tribes can house two neighborhoods each as they are not limited by city walls and can work with the map better

ixal can have a tree top and mountain face neighborhood, tree top in north shroud and the mountain face at coerthas
sylph can have a grove lake and a literal tree housing around gridannian map
sahagin can have a costal and an atoll housing around limsas map
etc..
(i'm still in arr so i haven't meet the other tribes yet XD)

-second tho i understand the philosophy behind the neighborhoods, but i doubt they will ever meet the demand
so why not implement both instance and neighborhood housing? (i know not of the technical difficulties behind this)

then again the location where in the world of ffxiv would the instance housing should take place?
why not the floating island in heavensward?(still in ARR so i'm talking my self off here)

the ingame idea would be making your own flying island via crystals, gils and soil gathered via DoL
now i think the resources needed to make an island should be scaled for FCs

if everyone can just make their own island i think this instance will bloat, so it should be resource intensive enough to force FCs to grind resource for weeks
not to mention an upkeep of crystals, the plan is for a gil sink FC housing to prevent bloating i mean this is a private island in the sky after all right?

so this are the suggestion my singular braincell came up with atm XD
feel free to criticize the holes in this idea you see, in hopes of making it better

If you're not seeing solutions being suggested, you haven't bothered to read through this forum at all. Try giving it a read. There are over 3200 threads and while not all of them are about being able to get a house, a significant number are.

Keep in mind that before meaningful solutions can be suggested, the actual problems with the system must be identified. Posters here have detailed those out on many occasions as well, as you'd see if you bothered to read through this forum.

Ultimately, the ball is in SE's court. We've talked about the problems. We've made suggestions on how they can be fixed. Only SE can actually take the action necessary to improve the situation - and they don't seem inclined to do so.

Considering SQEX has said they only look at long and robust threads for feedback, if you want your improvement suggestions to have a chance to be heard I recommend you add your voice and perspective to the megathread.

Considering SQEX has said they only look at long and robust threads for feedback, if you want your improvement suggestions to have a chance to be heard I recommend you add your voice and perspective to the megathread.

Game developers as a general rule use "megathreads" as a convenient way to funnel all discussion on a particular topic into one place to be summarily ignored.

Honestly the only issue I have with the current housing system is the terrible timer more often then not I saw the timer reach 18+ hours which is a terrible amount of time. After camping a placard for a few hours you get the mindset of cant leave now after that time investment so you stick on for longer and longer because of the fear it will be sold the moment you walk away.

They should make the timer a maximum of 3 to 6 hours. This would give plently of time for people to get in on it and have a better grip of how long it could still be up for.

The single most suggested solution is already being prepped for Endwalker: the lottery system.

You could fill a book with all the suggestions offered over the years.

Not to mention the mysterious island.
