    Facing this problem on today as of 25-05-2021

    This is an old issue some players have, and it's cause is internet related. Searching the forum brings up many threads related to it, but the most recent with some possible solutions can be found here.

    Of course it should go without saying that there is server maintenance at the moment, but that will not throw up 'unable to complete version check' errors on the launcher if you login, but instead a dialogue that outright says that the game is unavailable due to maintenance. So the OP's is undoubtebly unrelated to that.
