I don't understand why they don't want more races
Then you haven't been paying attention or never saw YoshiP address the issue with making more races at this point.
I agree though, playable Bangaa would be Lit

They said they weren't going to make any new races. They also said they weren't going to make any future races one gender, and here we are. I assume when they make declarative statements like that, there is a little asterisk saying*
*for now.
I would prefer the character creator updated with the old races and also fix the issues with Viera and Hrothgar.
I also would love to have a small half Elezen race![]()
I'm hoping the reason they don't want to add new races right now is because they are currently working on overhauling the character customization.
It would make sense that they wouldn't want to add any before the redesign is complete.
Maybe because the game has other selling points that work just as well? Story, new jobs, new expansions=$$$More races = $$$. It's not rocket science that mmos do this to increase sales. I get why they struggle with making them, but I still don't get why they outright refuse. There's still niches that aren't fulfilled in FFXIV.
We don't have another small race. Lalafells are all alone. A small rival to go with the Lalafells would be welcome.
We're also missing Lupin, but I guess with the lack of females being seen, I could see that rabbit hole repeating the Viera and Hrothgar situation. Still, It is such a shame they won't want to add at least a few more down the line. The race ideas we have left are incredibly unique and cool. Baanga would be amazing even if they are an incredibly difficult thing to implement.
Healing DRK is literally... the same since ShB. The reason why people think it's a meme to heal nowadays because DRK receives very little to no buff to their sustainability vs 3 other tanks getting something useful. If you're capable of healing DRK back in ShB (or any tanks), then you'll heal EW DRK just fine.
Any suggestions on a new race?More races = $$$. It's not rocket science that mmos do this to increase sales. I get why they struggle with making them, but I still don't get why they outright refuse. There's still niches that aren't fulfilled in FFXIV.

The new races will add more income significantly if they are the highly requested races. From the race poll result back then (https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/...ure-Race-Polls), the 3 highly requested ones are mammalian beast race, a mixed-race, and third clan for existing race. They already made two new races out of one of those three categories. So the remaining highly requested race are the third clan and the mixed-race.
However, I think there was some interview where Yoshi-P mentioned that they won't be doing any mixed-race PC (sorry can't find it atm).

They are min/maxing the game. Min amount of work for max amount of money. Why do they sell a whale for $30? They must have numbers that support whatever decisions they make.
From Yoshi-p himself:Can we please stop with this damn misconception that they'll have to make all the existing gear fit the new races? The last 2 races they added, Hrothgar and Viera use the male Roegadyn body and female Midlander body respectively, they had to do ABSOLUTELY NO EXTRA WORK for the gear, the racial differences are simply achieved by bone scaling.
https://www.siliconera.com/naoki-yos...hadowbringers/The Cost of Developing a New Playable Race – In a Fan Festival keynote speech, I stated that this will likely be the last time we add new playable races to FFXIV. To put it simply, a tremendous amount of time and resources are required to develop one. I’m sure you all understand that a new race will require new faces, hairstyles, bodies, and other assets. In addition to this, they need to be capable of equipping all existing items—this alone requires a massive commitment of resources. Each race has a unique frame and body type, and so every piece of visible equipment needs to be carefully adjusted to display properly on Hrothgar and Viera models. A cursory search will show that FFXIV has around ten thousand equippable items already implemented, all of which must be manually modified by our designers. This is an immediate and unavoidable development cost incurred when adding a new race.
The addition of new playable races will impact more than the development cost of the items added in 5.1 and subsequent updates. Not only will we be transitioning from twelve variations (six races, two genders each) to fourteen, but we will also need to commit more resources to the development of new emotes. While FFXIV will continue to strive to maintain a regular 3.5 month major update cycle, we must also ensure that sufficient time is secured for the meticulous development of new content—or else the quality will invariably drop. This is a complex problem that can’t be solved simply by throwing more money or people at it, as it impacts both debugging and QA.
