Brand of Earth and Bold Endeavor have same copy/pasted description.
"No more than five abilities can be used during synthesis. In the event that the number of abilities equipped exceeds this limit, five will be chosen at random." - Ouch.

Oh man I can't wait to "heck the bed"
Hi All,
Some very exciting (& some strange) things with Patch 1.22!![]()
Thoughts so far:
- Garuda Battle!
Can't wait!
- Hamlet Defense - Very glad to see War & Magic, *and* Crafters and Gatherers being able to participate.
- But did anyone else notice in the Battle Over, Success Screen for Point Totals... it seems to favor Class STACKING?
- Eight Classes Represented 30 (points)
- Only Disciples of War and Magic Present 250
- Only Disciples of War Present 500
- Same Profession Selected by All Members 500
- The Armoire for More Storage - Yay!
I hope we can add more types of Unique / Untradeable Items in there, but for now, it's a welcome start.
- The imperial stronghold Castrum Novum can now be seen in the Mor Dhona area (6,12) - Looks awesome!
- Blocking with Shields & Blocking Formula seem to have been adjusted! Go Paladins!
Adjustments have been made to the manner in which damage reduction from shields is calculated. With this, it is now easier for blocks to take effect when fighting enemies of a level higher than your own.
- Glad to see Re-Use Timers for Alchemy Potions reduced, so you can use them more often. This should help Alchemists and the use of Potions in general.
- Disappointed to see the return of Nuggets, Weapon *Parts* and Armor *Parts* for Recipes. I know it's only for certain items right now, but it does add inconsistencies to Design Philosophy for Crafting. Yoshi P took these out to make Crafting more streamlined, and now is adding them back in for certain items.
- Crafting Synthesis Action Reform is AWESOME!
These sound much more meaningful and useful than many of the Crafting Abilities we used to have (which were somewhat obtuse in their descriptions and usage). Can't wait to try them out!
- I especially love the ones that Restores DURABILITY(!) during Crafting. Nice!
- Mercantile House: Now we can buy Items from Any Market Wards while in Any City!
Hopefully this will help spread out the population a bit from Ul'dah, and it just allows players that want to spend time in Limsa or Gridania to spend more time there without feeling the need to have to return to Ul'dah.
Great Job Yoshida-san! Can't wait for tonight!![]()
I'm fairly certain that it is just to make them more 'difficult' than other recipes, particular as within them you *have* to get a HQ item for certain items or you are out of luck. I'd take these items as the 'end-game' currently in respects to crafter, taking more time and effort than others, but paying off in that they will no doubt be valuable to many people.

I don't so much read that as favoring class stackingHi All,

I read that as the group in question had mostly dow jobs

Hi Griss,
Ah! Good point. So perhaps if we brought all of, say, Disciples of the Hand, we'd get the same extra bonus?
I wonder how the Hamlet Defense would be, if all members were, say, Miners, or Weavers?I hope they balanced it so that any combination of Classes / Jobs could complete it.
Yeah, I think the way you should read that is that all of those categories are scales, rather than discrete values.
Rather than "Do you have all 8 classes represented? Ok here's 80 points." it's more like "How many of the 8 classes do you have represented? Three? Ok here's 80 points out of X."
