Maybe I'm missing something but what is the point of this? I really don't get why this is any different to a retainer.
What's wrong with putting items in a retainer? Retainers don't need items to be at 100% either.

The thought is that this will prevent the event items clogging up inventory, lets think for a bit (this is not all of them) 4 egg helms, 4 egg rings, 3 santa suits, 2 reindeer suits, onion helm/goggles, asuran armguards, hermes shoes, 3 valentines necklaces that is already 21 spaces, missing some event items and not including achievement gear you may not use.
With this system, your retainers inventory is freed up a bit for things you need, like materia, crafting mats, gear, things you have gathered, things you are selling etc etc etc.
Ah, fair enough. I would have thought an easier solution would be to just increase the capacity of retainers though. Just seems like a waste of time I guess, especially with all the restrictions on it.The thought is that this will prevent the event items clogging up inventory, lets think for a bit (this is not all of them) 4 egg helms, 4 egg rings, 3 santa suits, 2 reindeer suits, onion helm/goggles, asuran armguards, hermes shoes, 3 valentines necklaces that is already 21 spaces, missing some event items and not including achievement gear you may not use.

Egg helms and santa suits are tradeable, so we can't put them in the chest.
You forgot the dragon helms, swim suits, AF gear and achievement rewards.
They are still tradeable. You can buy it from other players after the event

And again, the official lodestone post:
http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/42275
makes absolutely no mention of the U/U requirement. Job exclusive gear, Seasonal Event gear, Achievement Reward gear and Bonus items, with some exceptions. In reality we actually have no idea what those exceptions are. Could be the non-U/U stuff, might be something else.

The 100% condition seems silly to me but as Uriko mensioned, if you can't be bothered to repair store on retainer.
The non-storability of primal weapons is also abit of a downer, but not to horrible.

				I'm waiting to see just how much storage we get. . . . 100, 150, 200. . . . unlimited?

At least this gives me somewhat room for more materials to be stored in in my retainers.
Go crawl into a hole and burn
Best guess with the 100% thing is that the armoire doesn't actually store an item the same way a retainer or inventory would, it just destroys the item and then re-creates it for the players on request. Hence, they are not able to store spiritbond and durability information.
Not sure if that's an intended mechanism or just another limitation of shoddy server infrastructure and engine.
