Here's my 2 cents. Make it so that you can not sell something that has the guild in the same town. Example, no more mats for weaver, blacksmith, alc (am i missing any?) in Ul'dah. Make the guilds rise up in frustration with Ward undercutters and demand that all guild mats be bought from them or from a ward in another town.

Your idea won't work, due to lack of anima/5K airship fee, and players must use their retainers as storage. This is not to mention we have only two retainers, not one per city.

In order for your idea to work, the player must be able to travel between the three cities freely. And this is proving that the player can drop of their inv at any time s/he needs to, at the retainer for the given city. In addition, the player now must remember to storage the items at the proper cities w/o the guild.

But, now here is another problem, city A has guild A, do the player place their items at city B or city C? This also makes life much harder for crafters. It is bad enough that items are hard to search within a retainer, now one needs to travel to three cities to check to see if they have the necessary materials to craft?

This really should be on top of the dev's team list of things to do BEFORE 2.0. I mean over 10,000 views and it being bumped to the top regularly by disgruntled players should say something. What's the point of using server resources to run the other two nations' wards if the consumers neglect them both? I sell nothing in Limsa wards even if I undercut Uldah prices by 10%, that's just the reality of the situation in Saragatanas. Convenience will often trump pricing.

The poor gets even poor beacuse cant sell a thing. While the rich get even richer and dont complain at all.
But i would see that day when he/she cant sell a shit when there retainer is out of there. I bet they will all come here and spam this forum untill tsomeone of the devs answer what they plan todo with the problem..

Actually, they'd probably just use the stalls.

    Just use the stalls.

    Stalls stalls stalls.

I have never never never seen all the stalls in all the wards filled, ever.

They've already stated that they cannot fix the issue before 2.0, so the stalls expiring every day were their solution. Use them. Feel free to come back and complain when you encounter that all the stalls in every ward are filled. Maybe then you'll be taken seriously.

Perhaps not so obvious solution: Treat it like the real world. If this were the real world and merchants were flocking to, say, London to sell their crap, and London could only handle so many sellers (and there was a big waiting list) then they would increase the taxes on the merchant. If, meanwhile, New York was struggling to get merchants into their city to sell things, they would provide an incentive - lower the taxes.

If you have reactive tax rates, the economy will balance itself. If Ul'dah has 100% of the merchants, they should get a total of 100% of the overall tax rates, making it 15%. If Gridania has 0%, it's a free trade city. Obviously once you start trading, the tax rate will instantly kick in. 1% of merchants in Gridania now? Kick it up to a whopping 0.15% tax rate, and so on. Once they are nicely balanced at around a third in each city, the tax rate will balance out at 5% at each city like it is now.

Of course, in our reality, we know this won't be something that can be done before 2.0, in which case so be it.

Stalls are filled everyday, forget to renew your stall overnight and it is taken.

I had trouble getting my retainers into wards but once in there i sell everything i add to them, easy to make over a 1mil gil a day, just keep one item @ 999,999,999gil to ensure your retainer won't de-pop once everything else has sold.

The problem is everyone is fighting to put their things in Ul'dah because that's what everyone checks first and most often, as it has been the trading hub for quite some time now.

If it were possible to check all 3 wards with one search, we wouldn't be having this problem, as placing your retainer in limsa would still be just as viable as placing it in uldah.

I've yet to see a better suggestion for improving the market system than the one I made here.

Much of the justification and reasoning is made in this thread.

An improved market system that ditches the terrible ideas and limitations of the current system would be vastly superior to any traditional Auction House system.

The latest changes does move the ball further towards this, I hope, inevitable destination by semi-linking the wards by at least making them more accessible.

However, a final version of the market wards should include in order the following:
    1. A singular hub or interface for players to browse, purchase, and sell all items that are available on their Server.
    2. Remove the wards in favor of a reference system which will include all items stored in retainer's bazaars regardless of where they are.
    3. Allow players to see comparable prices of items as they place items for sale in their bazaar.
    4. Incorporate personal shops managed by retainers into the housing system.

One last thing I noticed while browsing this thread; a large number of people seem to still complain about undercutting. In one of the links I provided above I already outlined why undercutting is in fact good for everyone. The only improvement you could have would be to have things undercut faster to their lowest possible price. This is, however, completely at the hands of the players. Understanding that undercutting happens when supply>demand, if you did not undercut your items would not sell. Asking someone else to not undercut you means that they will not be paid for their efforts, which is nonsensical.
