Which is potentially why he won't be the end boss for 5.3 - especially if he is the original Elidibus.Would it? I harbor some hesitation to have that kind of faith.
There was a day Ysayle tried to put an icicle through our chest "for Hydaelyn".
There was a day Midgardsormr tried to put a spike through our chest "for Hydaelyn".
Gods save us from half the people who think they're doing the gods' work.
At the same time, who's to say he's not working on the Source in parallel? I find it hard to believe that a meticulous planner like him would truly leave Zenos as a "wildcard", not to mention any other number of avenues he could be keeping an eye on, both within the Empire and outside it.The problem here is the Flood of Light wouldn't do anything for Elidibus at the moment because without Black Rose there is no pending calamity that we are aware of to allow a Rejoining to take place. That would be counterproductive for Elidibus to do to say the least. My guess goes back to his speech about wanting to 'keep us mired in the first', it seems to be an action more to disrupt our progress specifically. But how he intends to do so? That's still a hard thing to determine, as he basically creating a bunch of people with hero complexes.
My theory he intends to mislead these heroes against us somehow, maybe by creating an illusion of some kind of threat, though I must say trying to pin anything on the "Warrior of Darkness" normally would be difficult. Then again, get enough people who think they're doing the right thing and I wouldn't be surprised on what they could do.
That said, for now it does seem like the focus is dealing with the primary obstacle to his plans, but I am sure he's more than adept at multitasking.
He's almost inviting them to underestimate him.I'm honestly believing that the Elidibus that we are dealing with is Zodiark, just from the way he worded how we could see him as. I mean he straight up tells our character and the scions that he is there to fulfill the will of the convocation and that if we wanted to think of him as another Ascian then we could. (Not the exact quote from when we confronted him in Rak Tika but pretty much the gist of it). So yeah I think that would be a revelation sometime in the future.

When the game's story becomes self-aware:
That's why I said in my point 'Is no pending calamity that we are aware of to allow a Rejoining to take place'. Generally, the story tends to let us as the Players know that some element is going to be important by bringing it up long before it becomes story relevant like how Black Rose was. At this stage, all we know is that Zenos is traveling with a white robed figure that seems different from Elidibus somehow who seems to know about the past. If there is a potential option for another calamity, it's not currently apparent.
At the same time, who's to say he's not working on the Source in parallel? I find it hard to believe that a meticulous planner like him would truly leave Zenos as a "wildcard", not to mention any other number of avenues he could be keeping an eye on, both within the Empire and outside it.

If we're lucky we may meet a new character who uses one of the New Jobs for 6.0.
If we are very very lucky, we may have a Roleplay instance and get to try that new Job for 6.0 by Roleplaying that character in a 5.3 MSQ.

Not per sé.
Gunblades (or at least the Garlean version, which isn't the same model as the ones used by GNB) have been in the game since day one.
The Stormblood intro FMV led to rampant speculation that Lyse was a dancer, to the point that a joke about it is made with her Wind-up minion.
To my memory though there was no hint or showcasing of either Job being introduced in Shadowbringers during Stormblood.

Yugiri was a race preview in 2.55 (she was a female Miqo'te model with a different tail prior to that), Alisaie hinted at RDM in 3.4 (she use Gladiator actions while also casting a few spells), Gosetsu was a job preview in 3.56 and Fran was a racial preview during 4.5.

All I can say is that if they present any threat to us at all, it better be well explained. I don't want anymore of these, "I'm strong enough to fight toe to toe with god, but some sleepy time tea knocks me out cold instantly."
As for my predictions, we'll get to learn as others have said that the Elidibus we face now is the same Elidibus that is the core/heart of Zodiark. Part of Hydaelyn's design, why her attacks enervate and break apart her target is so that they could take him out of the primal with the hopes of saving his life/soul as well as weakening the tempering effect. It didn't work 100% the way they wanted it to work, but it removed him from Zodiark, thus removing a substantial part of his power.
We will get to see Elidibus's face, and he will have long blonde hair. World class breasts. Ass that won't quit, and legs that go ALLLLLLL THE WAAAY UP! No wait, that's Tammy Lyn Baxter. For some reason I think he will have long white hair. We may get to see Asahi Ascian Zenos minion's face as well. Though I kind of doubt it. Wait strike all that and reverse it.
Thancred is going to get stuck behind with Ryne. The best laid intentions of mice and men and all that jazz. The length of his calling, plus the depth of the damage he brought on himsef when he 1v1'd Ranjit in level 48 Wilderness has seen to that.
We will get cliffhanged just as it's getting good. Par for the course.
I wonder if the Exarch getting framed as a villain would be enough to settle the "stay in the Crystarium / go back to the Source with the Scions" debate in our favor? It at least seems more immediately plausible than the myriad diabolus ex machina one can't help but expect from a G'raha Tia story arc.

Whatever they do--I hope they add some more interesting dps rotations for the healing jobs. Right now they SUCK, big time. Since 5.0 released the SCH is a boring, clunky mess...I'm so tired of casting "Broil" 10,000 times a week and literally hundreds of times per dungeon que.
