    Locking dyable artifact gear behind a extreme trial, good idea?

    Hi everyone,

    As you may have seen from the title or found out yourself, this patches dyeable artifact gear comes from a EX trial, compared to the the crafting/MB of ARR, and Eureka of SB, I completely forget how you get it in HW so my apologies.

    But I’m wondering if this is really a good idea, sometimes EX in PF can be hell depending on your teammates, you can practice and research all you like but there’s no changing bad teammates, you also run the chance of running into aholes who demand a perfect clear on day 1 and will btch and moan if you mess up on day 1, I’ve seen these PF’s and encountered people like this in the past. There’s also the fact that some people don’t do EX/Savage, I for one get stressed out of my mind in the PF thanks to previous experiences and eventually there comes a point where I start playing like crap, that’s why I don’t play Savage/EX.

    Of course, there’s always a argument for good rewards thanks to increased difficulty, a hard boss is hard in a single player game because it’s hard, the same can be said for EX sure, but in said single player games you don’t need to be worrying about your teammates, and if you get stressed you can easily take a break and come back later with a clear head, but in FF14? That boss can be much, MUCH harder thanks to your fellow party members, and what are you gonna do when you take a break in FF14? Sure you may be well rested and refreshed, coming into this with a clear head, but what of your party members? This new batch could just be as worse then the last.


    Thats what I think at least, but what do you think? Is locking dyeable artifact armour behind a trial a good or bad thing? Why or why not?

    I don't think they've ever done a good job with dyeable AF, but this is probably the worst yet. But since they never make it storeable or recoverable I don't bother with it anymore.

    I think relic should be easy grind content. So putting the relic armor behind extreme difficulty grind content was a bad decision.

    Relic is supposed to be grind and it would be better if there were several way to do it. To lock the gear behind a PF for players sounds to me like the worst idea they could have. Why?

    1. The PF matter.
    - One brat can kill the training run.
    - One brat can make the PF run for hours with people who are leaving after ten minutes
    2. The static matter. You need to want and to be available in the same time than 7 other players. You can't progress or farm on your own.
    3. The extrem by itself : you need to do several runs for each job you want the relic (we come back to the points 1 and 2)
    4. Currently, many players have lags, latency problems (we can actually see them when players teleport, freeze or when actions while gathering or crafting are changing the pace with unusual pause).

    People who don't do Ex don't necessary avoid this kind of content because of "difficulty".

    And since the "normal" mode is in the story quest, you can't even train to prepare the Ex.

    The solo content was quite nice, actually farming the gear in this relic stage is a huge disappointment to me.

    ^That's me. I avoid EX and Savage content like the plague not because of the difficulty, but because after over a decade of WoW I'm just burnt out harder content bringing out the worst in people.

    The trial is fun, but I dont understand WHY they did this? There's no reason. The gear is 480; anyone who cares about gear atm is already at 480 from Eden, crafted gear, or they are higher then that. The casual players who do the relic stuff for glamour don't do ex, and this is pretty challenging for players who don't usually do extremes. There's no incentive past beating it once to even do it again if you don't care about the gear (except like a TT card...).
    I'd be fine with them locking it behind a trial like this if the gear was, say, 485. But it's not.

    Yeah this stuff should be grind only or if anything, give people the choice of how to unlock it. As of right now I have no desire to sit though an Ex trial for what is basically going to be glamour. When I think relic, I think long suffering grind or whatever not whatever the hell they decided to do this time.

    I think the problem here is people thinking relics are just long grinds. People asked for a return to the 2.0 relic, which involved doing somewhat difficult content to earn the relic.

    The relic doesn't have to be a grind. The relic is just alternate gear. You already have your handout gear in normal raids and tome gear.
